You’ll never be able to guess how this Call of Duty: Warzone parachute battle ends.
You’re at your most vulnerable moment in Warzone when you’re first dropping onto a map. Parachuting to your destination might get you there fast, but you can’t equip or aim a weapon while you’re busy gliding to a hot landing zone. Sure, you can cut your line and whip out your pistol, but it’s a risky move when you’re hurtling towards the ground at terminal velocity.
Reddit user LetsGoGayTogether (which is a fantastic name that we should all aspire to) decided to take a different tactic during his pre-game drop: try to make friends.
Normally, getting that close to someone who’s also parachuting in would just entangle both chutes and cause a double homicide, but Call of Duty: Warzone isn’t a completely realistic battle royale game. Instead, both LetsGoGayTogether and the other player just bump off each other a few times and wiggle around. This is similar to the universal shooter language of crouching and hopping to be non-aggressive and indicate friendliness.
It seems like the tactics worked, too. The opposing player and his riot shield plummeted in tandem with LetsGoGayTogether for a while… at least until their aerial ballet was interrupted by a helicopter.
From out of nowhere, a chopper shows up and takes out the riot shield wielder with its rotor blades, turning him into a red mist. You can just feel LetsGoGayTogether’s shock as they silently descend while staring as the red mist slowly dissipates in the atmosphere–a friend taken so cruelly and so suddenly.
This was a pre-game drop, so maybe the two players met again during the actual game itself. And maybe they decided to form a friendship that will last forever. Or maybe they killed each other on sight. That’s the cruel nature of battle royale games–you’re only friends until a Warzone Victory is on the line.
