The next Pandemic Legacy edition - the third in the series of boardgames - has been revealed, and will take the form of Pandemic Legacy: Season 0. The game will be a prequel set before the events of the previous two titles.
This news was confirmed with the release of a new teaser trailer. Interestingly, though, just before the official trailer dropped yesterday, there was an apparent leak of Season 0’s box art on Z-Man’s (the game’s developer) website, as spotted by Reddit user arankas.
Besides an official confirmation of the game’s imminent existence, we don’t have much more info. Gameplay, setting, and story details as well as a release date for the game are all yet to be revealed. Although, it’s possible it’ll be dropping sometime later this year.
As one might expect, the developers had decided in March of this year to delay any further announcements pertaining to upcoming games in the Pandemic Legacy series, what with the world going through an actual pandemic itself and all. But it seems they’re ready now to get the ball rolling again with the upcoming prequel.
The success of the first two games - especially the first - has been noteworthy. “We had absolutely no idea that [the first game] would do as well as it did and garner so much excitement,” designer Matt Leacock mentioned in an interview with Dicebreaker earlier this year.
Watch this space for more info on the prequel’s impending release.
