Just in time for Gen Con Online, Paizo launches their new Starship Operations Manual for their Starfinder RPG - and a juicy taster adventure for you to try out!
Pathfinder publisher Paizo launched the Starfinder RPG at Gen Con in 2017, so it is only fitting for it to launch the much anticipated Starship Operations Manual at this year’s event. With the unprecedented events of this year, Gen Con has been forced to go online only for the first time. This has given unique opportunities for studios and fans to engage with their games. Tabletop fans have more opportunities than ever before to tune in and see what is in store for them this year and beyond.
There are a number of events for Starfinder fans including some live plays, but one event stands out for Starship fans. On Saturday, August 1 at 4 PM EST, Paizo is running the Building a Starship in the Starfinder RPG, just days after the launch of their new Starship Operations Manual for Starfinder. Co-incidence? We think not. We are excited and can’t wait to tune in and see the Paizo team first-hand go into what it takes to build and run a starship.
If you are impatient like me you can check out the Starfinder Encounter: A Singular Notion. This goes into some of the starship mechanics and serves as an excellent primer for what to expect. The main Starfinder Starship Operations Manual contains new rules for over 40 pre-built starships as well as rules for creating and equipping your own. You’ll find information for 100 new starship weapons and the usual starship tropes including expansion bays, drop pods, mines, armor, rams and scoops, etc. Another big aspect of starships beyond the creation is the operations and the manual contains full rules for crews and how their skills can affect things like combat. It’s about time that something like this was available for sci-fi based RPGs and, from what we can tell, the depth Paizo has gone into puts other games shame.
The Starfinder Starship Operations Manual is available for immediate download as a pdf from the Paizo web store, where you can also buy a hardback edition. Starfinder Roleplaying Subscription members will be pleased to hear that this will be included as part of their plan. If you buy during Gen Con online you can save an additional 20% by using the promo code GENCON at checkout. Read their Gen Con blog for more details.
