Nintendo does not want you spending too much of your money paying for stuff from its mobile games. According to the Wall Street Journal, the company does not want to be seen as greedy and has urged its partners to adjust microtransactions so players don’t fork out too much cash on items available in games. It would appear that the video game giant is rubbing its partners the wrong way by being too nice....

When Nintendo Labo first came out in 2018, it was a unique way to bring together creativity and gaming. Now it seems the short-lived era of the cardboard kits is coming to an end as the main Nintendo Labo site seems to have been taken down. An eagle-eyed Twitter user @Akfamilyhome noticed that the main labo.nintendo.com has gone dark now redirecting to the latest kit, The Toy-Con 04: VR Kit site....

A few weeks ago, Nvidia was sending adamant statements to PC Gamer that their new RTX 3060 video card couldn’t be used for cryptomining thanks to a new piece of software called a hash limiter. Essentially, the hash limiter would detect when the video card is being used for cryptomining and would then limit itself to half of its normal processing speed. “End users cannot remove the hash limiter from the driver,” Nvidia told PC Gamer....

Earlier today Facebook announced the Oculus Quest 2 headset, a brand new virtual reality headset that offers both impressive visual fidelity and a comparatively affordable price. As part of the announcement, Facebook also confirmed part of its plans for the future. These plans are perhaps as significant, if not moreso, than the Oculus Quest 2 details. Specifically, Oculus is phasing out the Oculus Rift and shifting away entirely from PC-focused virtual reality headsets going forward....

The world has seen a steady rise in gay characters in video games over the last several years, though critics of the industry believe it still has far to go in terms of inclusion. A gay romance was removed from Mass Effect 2 for fear of backlash, and the games that do go ahead with gay characters unfortunately often face some amount of criticism on social media. Team17 has announced that Overcooked! 2: Gourmet Edition is now available for purchase on PS4, Xbox One, and Switch. A PC release (via Steam) will be coming on April 16. Like many games of its kind, Overwatch is constantly being tweaked in an effort to find the perfect balance. Jordan Peele’s reboot of The Twilight Zone is one of the major casualties of the sweeping broom at Paramount+. The streaming service has ditched several of its original shows as it heads towards a merger with Showtime. It comes after Showtime itself also announced the cancellation of many of its own original series - removing several of them from its offered lineup altogether. Paramount+ with Showtime, as it will be called in the US, will launch later this year as a combined streaming platform from Paramount Global....

Every year for the last seven years, The Last of Us fans have marked September 26 as “Outbreak Day.” The event is meant to celebrate the game’s community while also commemorating the date in which the apocalyptic outbreak begins in The Last of Us’ story. Interactive has formed a new studio dedicated to developing mobile and console games set in J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World.
