Until then, though, Web Heads will just have to bide their time by living vicariously through preview videos of the title, with a fresh piece of gameplay footage having recently swung online....

Newbee’s entire Dota 2 roster has been banned indefinitely by ImbaTV and the newly-formed Chinese Dota 2 Professional Association (CDA) after recent match-fixing allegations. The five players and team manager are now barred from competing in all events run by both the CDA and ImbaTV. Newbee is one of the most recognizable names in competitive Dota 2, having won The International in 2014. Now a Dota staple, the organization has competed in every International since their win, placing second in 2017....

In a recent interview, Ubisoft CCO Serge Hascoet confirms that all future games will be less scripted with Assassin’s Creed being the first show off this change in philosophy. It’s been quite some time since fans last got an update on the now dormant Assassin’s Creed franchise. Since moving to an annual format after Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, the series found itself losing momentum due a number of factors – including uneven quality levels between the games and somewhat diminishing enthusiasm from the fan base....

CD Projekt Red says that the coronavirus outbreak won’t affect Cyberpunk 2077’s release date. The coronavirus outbreak has already claimed so many victims, from this year’s E3 to various eSports events throughout the world. Games are being delayed, and everyone’s looking at Cyberpunk 2077 thinking that this hotly anticipated RPG is just bound to be next. Don’t worry; CD Projekt Red has everything under control. In a tweet posted yesterday, the Polish developer revealed their contingency plans to keep working throughout the outbreak....

Octopath Traveler has certainly shown that people love a good throwback to the good old days of traditional RPGs. Although it only released a couple months ago, stores have actually had trouble keeping the game in stock due to initial high demand. It looks like those early sales could make it a talking point for a potential sequel in the future. In a recent interview by Famitsu, head of Square Enix’s 11th Business Division Tomoya Asano mentions the possibility of a sequel to Octopath Traveler or even another installment in the Bravely Default series....

It’s been a month since Overwatch was released, and by all quantifiable measures, Blizzard’s first new IP in 17 years has been an unequivocal success. Now that developer Red Barrels has defined its brand of horror, it’s ready to start something experimental. Overwatch has been a monster in the video game scene, with constant updates, community feedback that’s actually listened to, and even characters that represent so many different people from all over the globe. Overwatch has also excelled at one major thing that hasn’t really been achieved by many other competitive games, the fact that they’ve made the Overwatch fanbase feel like a real community is out of this world....

Following PTR evidence hinting that the popular game mode Lucioball might be returning to Overwatch, new hints have surfaced suggesting that Blizzard is not only bringing back the Summer Games event but also (finally) introducing the mysterious Doomfist into the multiplayer shooter. An eagle-eyed fan on the Overwatch PTR dug through the crash logs and noticed that the current build being tested is called “1.13.0.0 Doomfist/Summer Games,” which suggests that the next big update will give players a second chance at playing Lucioball as well as the long-awaited introduction to Doomfist....

Blizzard Entertainment has announced a brand new Overwatch challenge event which will give you the chance to earn a unique Pachimari Roadhog skin. The PachiMarchi Challenge is a limited time event and will run from March 9-22. Similar to past character challenges, in order to earn the new prizes, including the Pachimari Roadhog skin, you’ll have to complete a series of challenges in-game. To win a new player icon, you’ll have to win three games, winning six games will also reward you with a new Junkrat emote, and nine games will earn you the special Pachimari cosmetic for Roadhog....

The Overwatch League has become a rather successful esports association. The games usually draw in several thousands of viewers, and the matches themselves are typically exciting and frenetic. However, it looks like the League will be undergoing some changes, as their commissioner has just abandoned them. Nate Nanzer, the OWL commissioner, has just been poached by Epic Games. Epic has lately been making a lot of enemies in the gaming industry....

Overwatch has been teasing Hero 31, Sigma, for the past few days, with the latest teaser offering even more details on what to expect from the new character. Like past Sigma teasers, this latest one is short, but there are some details that potentially shed some light on his backstory. In the new Overwatch Sigma teaser, we see what is presumably Sigma in an orange shirt or jacket. There is a label on the shirt that designates Sigma as “Subject Sigma,” suggesting that he is either a prisoner or a science experiment of some sort....

Outriders isn’t due out until early next year, but Polish developer People Can Fly is already getting started on their next big project. Actually, it’s going to be two big projects at the same time. The same people that brought you such classics as Painkiller and Bulletstorm have partnered up with Square Enix and Take-Two Interactive to bring two new games before the end of 2024. We have virtually no details on what those games might be, but the developer’s About Us page does give us a clue....

Capcom has seen unprecedented success with Monster Hunter World, as the game has quickly gone on to become its best selling game in company history. Part of the reason for its sustained momentum is the steady pace of new content, from free updates to interesting franchise crossover events with other games like Street Fighter 5 and Horizon Zero Dawn. One of the more anticipated events involves the classic Mega Man franchise and after teasing it last year, the long awaited crossover event is finally live....

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused Monster Hunter World: Iceborne’s roadmap to be considerably rearranged by Capcom, to the point that its next big title update has been delayed indefinitely. Capcom released an updated roadmap for the game alongside an apology for the increased waiting time. The delayed update will be Monster Hunter World: Iceborne’s fourth free addition, though it has now been placed in the “Schedule TBD” section of the roadmap; in the meantime, Capcom does still have a few other things in store for the next couple of months....

A couple of months ago, a WB Games Montreal developer appeared on Twitter with a t-shirt referencing the Court of Owls storyline from the Batman comics, leading to widespread speculation that the studio is working on a Batman: Court of Owls video game. While that has yet to be confirmed or denied by Warner Bros. Interactive, some new evidence has surfaced online that has added fuel to the fire. Digital artist Eddie Mendoza, currently employed by Apple, posted art of an armored Batman fighting Talon, an assassin for the Court of Owls in the storyline....

Mortal Kombat 11 has been out now for a little over two months, and in that time, we have seen a meta develop among the best of the best in the competitive scene, with tier lists clearly indicating that some players are head and shoulders above the rest. However, as the Kombat Pack 1 slowly releases we are now getting more characters drip fed into the game, starting with everyone’s favorite soul-stealing sorcerer, Shang Tsung....

Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath is getting a brand new skin pack next week for the fighting game’s most lethal ladies. No sooner than we get the Summer Heat Skin Pack for MK11 than we get a brand new skin pack courtesy of NetherRealm Studios and their undying love for the almighty dollar. The previous Summer Heat Pack gave us new and bizarre skins for Baraka, Kitana, and Erron Black, where Baraka was an insane butcher, Erron was cowboy Uncle Sam, and Kitana was ancient royalty from the Han Dynasty....

With the words “dead meme,” Mortal Kombat 11 Community Manager Tyler Lansdown put the nail in the coffin. The NetherRealm Studios dev confirmed that Shaggy will not be a part of the Mortal Kombat 11 roster, despite strong grass roots support from fans. During this week’s Kombat Kast, NetherRealm gave Mortal Kombat 11 fans a look at Kabal, the latest returning fighter to join the game’s growing roster. The livestream showed off all of Kabal’s move sets, combos, finishers, and a few of its fatalities....
