With console producers like Microsoft and Sony choosing to move toward a streaming future with their consoles, it seems that Nintendo is seriously considering doing the same down the road. As strange as the news has been, it isn’t all that shocking considering that computer components have become smaller and cheaper to the point that small computers are even more powerful than current gen consoles. While many felt that the next-gen consoles needed to be upgradable out of the box to compete, for this reason, it seems as if Microsoft and others have decided that giving users the ability to stream games is the better option in the end....

Nioh 2 was highly anticipated by fans and the game delivered a greater amount of content alongside the previous games acclaimed fighting mechanics. As a result, Nioh 2 was a critical success and it seems that plenty of newcomers have been swayed by the reputation of the title. Many players may have found themselves leaving the title after finishing its story, but fortunately for fans who are hungry for more, there is a lot of DLC on the way....

Once again, the annual Overwatch Summer Games have arrived, and this time the competition is fierce, as Blizzard unveils a brand-new competitive version of Lucioball. For those unaware, the Arcade mode has players teaming up with two other Lucios in order to punch and boop a soccer ball into the opposing team’s goal. It’s a fun way to earn some of the event’s stylish new skins, but the added incentive of awarding competitive points has meant that Overwatch fans everywhere are doing their very best to up their Lucioball games....

The Overwatch devs have added a new Orisa ability that’s left some players feeling unsettled. Orisa’s new ability allows her to climb the walls. When Lucio trended on Twitter last month, the Overwatch fandom was getting a chance at a free headset. Now, Overwatch is having a moment on Twitter because of a creepy spider-crawl. When Twitter user Holiwhirl suggested that Orisa be able to wall climb, the official Overwatch Twitter responded by releasing a clip of Orisa walking up walls and even executing a few flips....

Blizzard begins testing a future update for Overwatch that will nerf several characters, as well as give Sombra a buff and fix issues with the new Oasis map. Named Game of the Year 2016 by numerous outlets, Blizzard has no intention of slowing its support of Overwatch in 2017. If anything, 2017 seems like it will hold even more frequent updates and new content for the popular shooter, with the studio currently testing balance changes in the Public Test Region (PTR) that should be rolling out to all versions of the game sooner rather than later....

The Paper Mario sub-series has seen more lows than highs in recent years, but Origami King’s release on the Nintendo Switch does at least offer hope for the franchise’s future. While Paper Mario will likely never return to its JRPG roots (the first game was a sequel to Super Mario RPG after all,) it’s clear that Intelligent Systems knows what they’re doing with the combat. For the most part, that is....

Despite fears that it might never end up being made, Payday 3 has been fully funded and will see a release in 2023. The funding comes with Starbreeze and Koch Media signing a $60m publishing deal, which will fund Payday 3 in its entirety. According to Starbreeze, this deal will account for all of Payday 3’s development, advertisement, and at least 18 months of “games-as-a-service” content. There are a few things to take away from this announcement....

Monster Hunter has finally returned to handheld systems with Monster Hunter Rise on Nintendo Switch, and as you would expect from a brand new Monster Hunter game it has brought with a lot of the quality of life features and monsters that came before, in addition to some brand new features that you may not have been aware of. In MH Rise one of the biggest new additions is Rampage quests, where multiple monsters descend onto the gates of Kamura village, threatening to tear the entire village asunder....

The upcoming release of Monster Hunter Rise will be a pivotal moment for Monster Hunter fans, perhaps just as pivotal as the release of Monster Hunter World in late 2017. While World brought on a staggering number of brand new players to the series, Rise will be a return to some of Monster Hunter’s oldest roots. As a portable game, Rise will be similar to every other Monster Hunter game before it aside from World, but even so, the millions of new players that World garnered won’t have ever played a portable Monster Hunter game before....
