Platinum Games releases the NieR: Automata demo in the PlayStation Store today, and the brief sample of what the game has in store is being met with very positive feedback. This year’s Square Enix E3 2016 presentation largely centered around Final Fantasy 15, and rightfully so - the game took a decade to develop and has been heralded as one of the best JRPGs in recent memory. Unfortunately, however, and perhaps unjustly, that meant Platinum Games’ NieR: Automata took a backseat on the grandest gaming stage of them all....

Speed runs have seemingly been around since video games first began, but one Twitch streamer goes above and beyond, completing Nioh in just over an hour and a half. From developer Team Ninja and publisher Sony, the PS4-exclusive action-RPG Nioh has rightfully garnered a ton of positive critical response and a rapidly-growing fanbase in equal measure. Dataminers pouring through the files of No Man’s Sky’s all new Foundation Update are discovering assets that hint at the upcoming release of terrestrial vehicles. Despite the current spread of the Coronavirus seeing the decline of many businesses, Xbox appears to be faring well compared to other areas of the industry. First announced all the way back in 2018, Maneater is finally nearing its release. A shark RPG that may remind some gamers of 2006’s Jaws Unleashed, Maneater has gotten a new launch trailer ahead of its May 22 release date that focuses on dark humor and over-the-top violence. Details regarding Outriders’ fourth Broadcast episode have been revealed by Square Enix, by way of an announcement trailer. The episode is expected to detail the upcoming title’s Technomancer class, post-launch content, and more, and it’s due to premiere November 5 at 5pm on Twitch. People Can Fly’s latest venture, Outriders, has been a big talking point for the industry over the last month, with the co-operative shooter’s demo getting a lot of players invested in its full release. Interest in the game has only spiked following the announcement that Game Pass subscribers will be able to access Outriders for no additional cost at launch, making the service an even more lucrative deal. The latest news for the game comes from its most recent update, which targets and largely nullifies a widely reported bug that wipes players’ inventories....

Square Enix has announced that Outriders‘ release date has been delayed as a result of complications caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. “It had been our full intention to deliver Outriders to you within the Holiday 2020 season,” says Toby Palm, Outriders Community Manager, in a blog post. “COVID-19 has certainly affected our operations over the past months, but the teams have all worked extremely hard to adapt to changing circumstances. While the core game is now in a largely complete state, our testing operations were unfortunately among the most affected by the work-process-restructuring caused by the novel coronavirus....

Ninjala had a huge online release on the Nintendo Switch this past week. GungHo’s latest arena game was launched on June 25 with free-to-play, battle royale fighting game matches. It seems like the game had a pretty big turnout during launch week as it’s already garnered 2 million downloads. Ninjala plays in a similar style to the popular Splatoon games, where each character chooses a different weapon and wages war in hopes of splatting the competition....

Overcooked is just about everything that someone could want in a couch co-op game, gamers and non-gamers alike. BlizzCon 2017 was a big event for Overwatch fans. Yet another streaming service is throwing its hat into the ring. Paramount Plus is the latest subscription model for film and TV that is attempting to throw its weight around. While the service already technically exists in the form of CBS All Access, it will soon be rebranding, and that rebrand is coming with quite a bit of new content to incentivize new subscriptions. Several days ago, Capcom invited Monster Hunter World fans to tour the forthcoming action role-playing game’s Coral Highlands by releasing a gameplay trailer that detailed the area’s ocean-like designs and its flying wyvern creatures Paulumu and Legiana. Now, the publisher and developer have put out a fresh gameplay trailer with eight full minutes of footage that highlights the title’s Rotten Vale region. Ever since the first Mortal Kombat 11 beta was datamined, Ash Williams from Evil Dead has been rumored to be a DLC character for the game. However, Ash actor Bruce Campbell denied the rumors, stating specifically that “Evil Dead’s Ash” will not be DLC. Now it appears Campbell was telling the truth, but Ash is still coming to Mortal Kombat 11. A new leak points to not Evil Dead’s Ash as Mortal Kombat 11 DLC, but rather the version of Ash as seen in Army of Darkness....

Good news on the never-ending war against hackers. Development on the machine-learning platform-agnostic Warzone hack has stopped thanks to a cease-and-desist from Activision. This special hack surfaced last week after the Anti-Cheat PD Twitter account noted a YouTube video that advertised its existence. What was so special about this hack was that it was particularly difficult to detect and that it could also work just fine on consoles. The hack–called User Vision Pro–used machine learning to analyze gameplay footage in real-time and then send commands to the game based on that footage....
