It’s safe to say that since it first came out in 2016, No Man’s Sky has had an almost Phoenix-from-the-Ashes approach in terms of its development cycle. The game has continued to evolve and change throughout the years thanks to a series of groundbreaking updates and patches (Companions being a prime example). Their most recent one, Expeditions, is another alteration that once again has changed things for the better. This latest addition is part of the 5-year anniversary celebration of the game’s original launch and it’s brought quite a lot to the table....

Former People Can Fly developers founded a fully remote studio Gruby Entertainment to go back to what PCF (the creator of Bulletstorm and Painkiller) were best known for. According to the team, they will work on a brand-new first-person shooter for the hardcore audience. Gruby Entertainment was established in 2020 by Grzegorz Michalak, Karol Szyszka, Paweł Siech, and Kamil Misiowiec, who worked on People Can Fly projects before, like the recent looter-shooter Outriders....

Overwatch players who use custom games to farm XP will be punished, says Blizzard. Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan has addressed recent concerns that some people are abusing the new game mode ability to level up quicker, saying that “Abusing and exploiting custom game or any other game mode to earn experience in Overwatch while inactive is NOT ok.” In a post on the game’s official forums, Kaplan says that developer Blizzard is going to take “disciplinary action against people who partake in these activities,” meaning that the days of improperly using Overwatch custom game modes to get ahead could soon be over....

The Overwatch community has grown attached to the game’s diverse roster of heroes, with many artistic fans making skin concepts for their favorite characters. One such concept sees support hero Brigitte donning special Christmas attire, and it is hard to imagine anything better for the Overwatch member than this fan design. The skin concept sees the daughter of founding Overwatch member Torbjorn dressed from head to toe in Christmas decorations, and the festive look has a great name to match....

Blizzard says it’s ready to move forward with some balance changes for Overwatch, including a nerf to gunslinger vigilante McCree and a possible buff for D.Va. The launch of Overwatch has gone well, with Blizzard announcing that more than seven million players have registered for the game across all platforms since the servers went live on May 24. But now that the game is off and running, Blizzard’s next challenge will be making sure the game gets the ongoing support and balance changes that the Irvine, California developer is famous for....

However, according to creative developer Ed Boon, another game outside of those series could possibly be in the works from the studio. With the recently released Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath expansion out, NetherRealm is getting a lot of attention for the fighting series. The new expansion had fans excited for the company’s work, and this new development may add to that buzz....

A new Pirates of the Caribbean movie has been confirmed and will star Margot Robbie. Robbie has experience heading up action movies and franchises, having enjoyed a star turn as Harley Quinn in the Birds of Prey and The Suicide Squad movies as part of the DCEU. A report by The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Robbie is set to be the lead character in a new Pirates of the Caribbean movie as part of an effort to revitalize the series....

While the style of both combat and heightened difficulty resembles that of the studio’s previous games such as Dark Souls and Bloodborne, the new feudal Japan setting brings with it a layer of depth in combat players may not be familiar with. This past weekend, a new gameplay trailer dropped for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, revealing brand new boss battles and locations to players for the first time....

Stadia fans were disappointed when the new Chromecast with Google TV launched last September without Stadia support. Though the standard Chromecast supported Stadia from the very beginning, the latest and greatest device will not have Stadia support until an undetermined future date. Well, that date might be coming sooner than expected. A recent posting to the Stadia subreddit from user u/rmeestudios shows that the Google Stadia app is now an available option on Google TV even though it says that the “device isn’t compatible with this version” for now....

Twitch Prime comes with a lot of free stuff, and now there’s five new free games that members can claim. The first of the games, Observer, is a cyberpunk horror game taking place in a dystopian future wrought by a digital plague. Made by the creators of Layers of Fear, it has players trying to solve a murder while trapped in a tenement that’s on lockdown. The second came, Project Warlock, is a retro-style first-person shooter where the player is charged with the vague goal of “eradicating all evil....

Remedy Entertainment’s Control game has a surprising number of Alan Wake connections, with the two games actually existing in the same universe. Future Control DLC will take those connections further, with the AWE expansion directly dealing with the events of Alan Wake and offering a more detailed explanation as to the fate of the title character and exactly what happened at the end of that game. This was confirmed by Remedy’s Sam Lake, who said that Control’s AWE DLC will offer more insight into the supernatural events depicted in Alan Wake....

Blizzard has announced an update that will lead to better loot for the raid in World of Warcraft this week. A significant part of most MMO games is running endgame raid dungeons. These difficult experiences require multiple players to work together, utilizing individual class strengths to take on complex challenges. Typically, the reward for doing so will be some of the best weapons, armor, and items in the game....
