Mortal Kombat 11’s launch is just two weeks away, but we still don’t know the game’s full roster of characters. NetherRealm has also been mostly quiet about the game’s DLC characters, so far only revealing Shao Kahn as a pre-order bonus and Shang Tsung as the first character coming post-launch. Some fans may be wondering just how many Mortal Kombat 11 characters are coming as DLC, and while we still don’t have official confirmation, a datamine of the Switch version may very well reveal how many DLC characters will be in the game....

NetherRealm Studios announced Mortal Kombat 11 just two months ago during The Game Awards 2018, but since then has kept a steady pace by unveiling members of the fighting game’s roster at a rate of one per week. This afternoon, however, the developer broke with tradition by first announcing Kabal for Mortal Kombat 11 and then director Ed Boon revealed D’Vorah on Microsoft’s Inside Xbox stream. While Kabal received its very own gameplay trailer, D’Vorah will unfortunately have to wait a while longer for her full unveiling....

Motherland: Fort Salem season 1 introduced viewers to an expansive world where witches make up the American military, and followed new recruits Tally (Jessica Sutton), Abigail (Ashley Nicole Williams), and Raelle (Taylor Hickson) as they trained to fight against witchy terrorist cell, The Spree. The witch cadets experienced love, loss, and betrayal while learning to harness their power, and found themselves facing enemies more harrowing than they ever could have imagined....

TaleWorlds Entertainment recently announced and detailed Development Update #7 for its medieval combat and RPG sim Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord. The new dev update brings a few major changes to the game, including the new Battle Terrain System, Multiplayer Duel Mode, Sandbox mode, and more. This Development Update #7 may be the last one the game gets in February, which will mark the game’s one-year Steam Early Access anniversary. With the Early Access phase initially stated to last “for around a year," it’s possible there may be an official release date waiting to be announced just around the corner....

While many undoubtedly remember Square Enix’s The World Ends With You for its striking art style, fun characters, and unique action RPG gameplay, many will argue that the game’s most memorable asset was its fun J-pop inspired soundtrack. The game’s soundtrack was so memorable in fact, that the entire soundtrack was remixed for the Nintendo Switch remaster The World Ends With You: Final Remix. Fans will be happy to hear that Takeharu Ishimoto, composer of the original game, has confirmed that he will be returning to compose the soundtrack for the upcoming sequel Neo: The World Ends With You....

It’s Netflix’s Geeked Week, which promises to bring news on the streaming platform’s latest and greatest shows along with what’s to come next. And what’s coming next to Netflix is Cowboy Bebop, which will arrive this fall. That’s according to a new tweet showcasing the show’s stars in full costume, including John Cho as Spike Spiegel (whom you’ve probably seen in various shows as well as the Star Trek movie franchise), Daniella Pineda as Faye Valentine (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, The Vampire Diaries), and Mustafa Shakir as Jet Black (Brawl in Cell Block 99, Luke Cage)....

Anthem is BioWare’s first new IP in 10 years, and at the Game Awards 2018, players got a new glimpse at the upcoming online multiplayer action RPG. This newly launched trailer gives players a glimpse at everything from crew members and factions to story details and enemies. As a freelancer, Anthem players will have access to a crew composed of Haluk, Faye, and Owen. Like the PC, Haluk is a freelancer and a strider pilot, with the two having a long-running history together....

Ever since its initial announcement, The Last of Us: Part 2 has undoubtedly been one of the PS4’s most hotly anticipated games. Fans have been waiting years to see what happens next, and while we still don’t have a concrete release date, there is new evidence that suggests The Last of Us 2 will launch at some point later this year. Naughty Dog is hiring people for numerous positions, as revealed by The Last of Us 2 co-director Anthony Newman on Twitter....

Kakapo Run is a new game available now on iOS and Android that is trying to raise awareness about one of New Zealand’s most endangered species. The mobile gaming industry is a real money-spinner for developers, but also one that is never far from controversy. A great many mobile games might be advertised as free-to-play, only to hit players with an unexpected paywall after the first few levels. Or, even worse, require players to spend money should they want to progress faster or stand a better chance than others playing the game....

With the filming of the Lord of the Rings TV show underway, the New Zealand government has invested over $100 million into the show, hoping that it helps boost tourism. The show will help “promote New Zealand as the ‘Home of the Lord of the Rings’ series”, and bring in more money. It looks like the global pandemic is nearing an end (hopefully), so this show is expected to boost tourism in the country....

PQube and game developer, VEWO Interactive Inc., announced in a press release three of the regions players will be able to explore in Nexomon: Extinction. Nexomon: Extinction is a new Pokémon-esque monster-catching game coming this year to Steam, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. PQube and VEWO Interactive Inc. also introduced 300 of the monsters you may encounter during your exploration of the interactive world....

In less than one month (from the time of this writing), console gamers will have officially entered the “next generation” - with the release of the PS4 on November 15th, followed closely behind by the Xbox One on November 22nd. While certain gamers have kept busy flaming the impending “console war,” both systems are set to sell big numbers and introduce players to all-new game experiences - with pros and cons to which system a prospective consumer selects (if not both)....

This week Level-5 released exciting new information about the gameplay within the highly anticipated game Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom. On top of that, the developer revealed that it should take players 40 hours (on average) to complete the main story, assuming there is some deviation for side quests. The games within the Ni no Kuni franchise are popular JPRGs with memorable game design and a range of endearing characters....

Nintendo has built a number of formidable video game mascots over the years, but Mario has definitely been their stand out hero. Mario occupies all sorts of franchises and takes on different forms, but the Paper Mario titles mark a cute and creative turn for the video game character. Paper Mario games have been around since the Nintendo 64 and has been able to incorporate new mechanics over the years. Paper Mario: The Origami King marks the first Switch entry in the series and it’s a positive step forwards....

Netflix has been discontinued on the Wii U and 3DS, giving everyone a gentle reminder that it’s still not on the Nintendo Switch. This announcement isn’t too much of a surprise as Nintendo confirmed earlier in the year that the app would be turned off later in the year. Nintendo also made a a quick post on Nintendo Support that acknowledges the discontinuation. That post says, “The Netflix app was removed from Nintendo eShop on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS Family systems on Dec 31st, 2020 and discontinued on June 30th, 2021....

At this point, everyone knows how notoriously protective Nintendo is of its intellectual property (IP). The company has been going after fan-made projects like Pokémon Uranium and Pixelmon, as well as websites illegally distributing Nintendo game ROMs for years now (and for understandable reasons, of course). The latest Super Mario 64 PC port is no exception to the rule. Earlier this week, it was reported how a fan of Super Mario 64 was able to port the game over to PC and how he was able to make it support wide display along with 4K resolution....

Nioh creative director Tom Lee from Team Ninja explains why the studio decided to restrict the Dark Souls-style samurai game’s co-op functionality at launch. Since launching earlier this week, Nioh has earned high marks across the board, with many reviewers praising its deep combat system and Dark Souls-style gameplay. With schools across the world closed due to the Coronavirus, there is a growing fear among parents that sexual predators will take advantage of the increased number of children on online games such as Minecraft. In response to this, ParentsTogether, a national parent-led organization with over 2 million members, has drafted and sent a petition to Mojang and Microsoft asking that the companies better protect children. For those unaware, the FBI released a statement warning parents that increased supervision of online gaming may be necessary as a result of an increased risk in online sexual exploitation, so this petition looks to add more layers of protection to kids playing Minecraft online....

It’s easy to appreciate the range of unique game modes in Blizzard’s addictive hero shooter, Overwatch. Though the typical 6 v 6 showdowns of Competitive and Quick Play are fun enough, one overlooked area of the game is Arcade Mode. This section hosts a slew of constantly-rotating game options, each of them more-or-less unique. Arcade Mode has seen a number of limited-time seasonal events, co-op campaigns, and other variants.
