After being delayed a few times, the Mortal Kombat movie officially comes out on April 23. The movie was originally set to be released on March 5, however, it was moved up to January 21. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was once again moved to release on April 16, only to be rescheduled again for April 23....

When the PS5 console was officially revealed last week, it was mainly displayed from a vertical perspective, causing fans to wonder if it can be placed horizontally or in any other way that would be suitable for their rooms. At that time, images surfaced online showing the PS5 laying on its side. But today, PlayStation has officially published images of the PS5 in a horizontal position, effectively confirming early reports and images....

Sony interactive Entertainment have filed another patent that appears to contain diagrams of built-in advertisements within the PlayStation VR headset. Adding to its latest applications for motion control and front/rear cameras, the company now seem to be taking ads virtual. Published on June 25, the form details visual placement on the PSVR display to correspond with the users line of sight. In various drawings of the desired display positioning, the edges of what would be the game are labelled “Advertisement Image”....

No Man’s Sky has had one of the biggest redemption stories ever. In addition to the substantial downloadable content added since its release, developer Hello Games has announced cross-play is coming to the game tomorrow. The update will enable players on PS4, Xbox One, and PC (including VR) to play online together on the same server. This means players across all platforms can visit each other’s bases, terraform together, and battle it out in space....

One of the big surprises of the Devolver Direct broadcast this afternoon was that Olija, the latest game from Skeleton Crew Studio, was launching today. For the time being, Olija remains unavailable, leading to quite a bit of confusion, but if the Devolver Direct announcement is to be believed, it should be coming soon. Olija is an action-adventure game about a man shipwrecked in the mysterious country of Terraphage. The protagonist, Faraday, discovers a legendary harpoon, with which they plan to escape the country alongside other castaways....

A brand new game, Dead Star, will be part of PlayStation’s April lineup of free PlayStation Plus games, discovered by someone who pre-ordered the game. March’s catalog of free PlayStation Plus games just went live last week, but one game that will be free next month for those with PlayStation Plus has already been revealed, in a strange bit of happenstance. Normally Sony doesn’t announce the following month’s free games catalog until the end of each month, just days before they become available....

OpTic Gaming Los Angeles have continuously failed to live up to the lofty expectations placed on them since the start of the Call of Duty League. Many considered OpTic Gaming to be one of the best teams in the league heading into it, but have only secured two wins all season which both came at their home event in LA. It looked like OpTic Gaming were on the come-up after that event but have since fizzled out once more....

When it comes to the looter shooter genre, there’s a fine balance between a lot of gameplay mechanics, but unfortunately, few games truly nail this balance. This can result in a lackluster game where the loot is not worth the grind (a la Anthem), where the gameplay is dull and repetitive, and more. Marvel’s Avenger isn’t, by definition, a “looter shooter,” but it is a looter restricted to some of the same rules....

Late last week the new cinematic trailer for board game phenomena Pandemic Legacy: Season 0 dropped and gave us a flavor of what’s to come, and boy, are we excited! There really hasn’t been a better way to spend the recent pandemic by playing Pandemic, and with several different takes now available we’ve had plenty to chew on. The first Panzer Dragoon Remake is already available for fans, but Panzer Dragoon 2 Zwei: Remake still has no official launch date. However, developer MegaPixel Studio and publisher Forever Entertainment confirmed via Twitter that the prequel to the beloved rail shooter would be out sometime in 2021. In 2018, Sega licensed both the first and second games to Forever Entertainment for a remake. The first game featured brand new graphics, modified game mechanics and systems, but retained the original story with a modern flair....

It was a good and long reign, but it’s finally come to an end. Nintendo’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the hit life simulator game that became an instant success after its timely release just a week and a half after the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, has finally lost its place as the number one game in the Nintendo Switch eShop. That number one spot was recently taken by Paper Mario: The Origami King, the sixth game in the long-running Paper Mario series....

The 2020 Tokyo Game Show is in full swing, and Capcom is one of the many developers participating. The developer recently sat down for its first TGS broadcast, and it took the opportunity to discuss several of the titles that it has in store for the future, including its upcoming sequel to Monster Hunter Stories, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. According to Capcom, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin will feature character customization, so players will be able to customize the appearance of the game’s protagonist....

With the positive reviews for Monster Hunter World, most expected the game to build a strong fanbase of veterans and newcomers. However, few could have predicted how popular the game would be with non-humans. It seems that the Palicoes’ biggest fanbase may be cats, and it is hilarious to watch. It seems that while some gamers are hunting beasts, completing investigations, and playing the game (solo or co-op), some Monster Hunter World players have taken to social media to post their cats’ response to the Palicoes within the game....

Monster Hunter World has launched its Spring Blossom Festival, which includes an opportunity to replay all event quests, collect some new emotes, and enjoy a change of scenery in Astera. The event will run from now until April 19th, so players have plenty of time to get in on all the fun. The biggest selling point for the Spring Blossom Festival is the event quests, which are all active for Monster Hunter World....

Monster Train, developed by Shiny Shoe and published by Good Shepherd Entertainment, is a delightful, addictive, genre-bending deck-builder. It can be a lot for a player new to the genre to take in, and there is a lot of depth to master in the game, as well. Every run in Monster Train boils down to a series of difficult decisions - where to place your units, which relics to pick up, which cards to ditch....
