Shaka Shredders is an innovative new card game from Sunslap Studios launching on Kickstarter today. Unlike normal TCGs, Shaka Shredders features “Swaptop” magnetic cards that split in half, allowing players to mix and match characters and stats with archetypes and abilities. It’s definitely a unique and intriguing technology that creates a ton of opportunities for complex strategy (and plenty of headaches when designing balanced cards, I can only assume) but I found the actual gameplay and rules to be frustratingly overcomplicated....

A sequel to the game Fallout Shelter has been announced with player versus player gameplay. However, the game is exclusive to China and it’s unclear whether Bethesda has any plans to release it outside of the country. The Fallout Shelter sequel is called Fallout Shelter Online and it adds quests, exploration, and PvP combat to Fallout Shelter’s base building gameplay. Fallout YouTuber JuiceHead and the publication MMO Culture have shared some gameplay from the new mobile game, confirming that players will be able to take their vault dwellers outside of the vault, going on quests to fight enemies and level them up....

The shadow of a kaiju looms large over 2021 with a new Godzilla series stomping its way onto Netflix next spring. The streaming giant announced that the Godzilla Singular Point anime series will hit globally in April. There are scant details about the plot of Godzilla Singular Point, only a list of notable names attached and that it will be a mix of both hand drawn and CG animation styles. The ones responsible for the visual stylings of this series will be character designers Kazue Katō and Eiji Yamamori....

Nintendo’s latest Direct dropped only last week, while the 35th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda was yesterday, and yet Nintendo hasn’t said anything. The bare minimum would have been to share a picture of Link over the years with a caption as simple as “Happy 35th to The Legend of Zelda,” and yet, it couldn’t even muster up the effort to do that. Hello Games, the studio behind the now infamous No Man’s Sky, has announced that it is launching Hello Labs, a platform for funding small gaming projects. The focus will be on developers that are working on procedural world generation and experimental games; currently, Hello Labs has one project already in development and would like to always have one or two projects on the burner as they move forward. The announcement was made by Hello Games founder Sean Murray at the Game Developers Conference, as a surprise end to a presentation involving the math behind No Man’s Sky....

When the first Resident Evil came out, the producers chose a rare route for an introductory sequence: they performed it in live action.
