It’s official: Bethesda is now part of the Microsoft family of studios, along with Arkane, MachineGames, Tango Gameworks, Alpha Dog, and everyone else that was under the ZeniMax Media umbrella. Both the EU and US regulators have given their blessings to this union, paving the way for the biggest video game merger in history. Fans already suspected that Kotal Kahn would be making a return in the upcoming Mortal Kombat 11, with a brief teaser from the official Mortal Kombat Twitter account practically confirming it. Developers from the Echtra Games studio recently revealed a fifth class for the fast-paced dungeon crawler ARPG, Torchlight 3. According to the team, The Cursed Captain is a mid-range class with a lot of punch, carrying not only a large cannon but powerful ghostly summons....

Bastion has always been an intriguing character in Overwatch. The robotic unit is the last of his kind, and in an unlikely series of events was able to overcome his programming and forge his own path. He deals devastating damage in his tank mode, but features plenty of versatility throughout both a sentry and scout mode as well. Before the Overwatch hero had a tank mode, though, he initially launched a remote mine that players would drive around before burying it in the ground....

Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan just dumped a bunch of statistics in the Battle.net community message boards showing off the win rates of all the Overwatch Assault, Escort, and hybrid map types. Kaplan’s post was in response to frequent complaints within the Overwatch community that the game is not balanced. A quick look at the statistics shows that most of the Attack and Escort maps are shockingly well balanced. That being said, the data is taken from Quick Play sessions and only shows matches that took place between May 14th and July 12th of 2017....

Not too long ago, Blizzard Entertainment decided to prepare Overwatch fans for the team-based shooter’s Lunar New Year event for 2018 by providing some details about the limited-time event in regards to its new map to explore, and the newly improved capture-the-flag game variant. Even with the pandemic in 2020, many video game companies saw record profits driven by people who needed something to do while staying at home. The Swedish-based Paradox Interactive has released its financials for 2020, reporting an increase of revenue compared to previous years. Paradox Interactive is a video game publisher behind titles like the space-faring grand strategy game Stellaris, the mafia-sim Empire of Sin, and Crusader Kings III. It also currently owns the rights to the World of Darkness franchise, which includes properties like Vampire: The Masquerade, Werewolf: The Apocalypse, and Wraith: The Oblivion, which is getting a VR title later this year....

Capcom has recently updated its Monster Hunter: World event schedule, which lists the start date for the upcoming Devil May Cry event. So it appears it won’t be much longer until players can start dressing up as gaming’s bad boy of demon hunting, Dante. There are two Capcom events on the schedule for Monster Hunter: World. The first one is themed after Mega Man, and is live now. The second will take inspiration from Devil May Cry, and starts a little later on April 27....

At the end of June, Shang Tsung joined the Mortal Kombat 11 roster as the game’s first DLC fighter, and it is looking increasingly likely that Nightwolf is the next MK11 DLC character on deck. Introduced in Mortal Kombat 3, many are likely to associate this Native American fighter with his leather vest and glowing tomahawks, which he can use to mount a vicious assault. However, there are more details to know about Nightwolf, and some of those details are quite odd indeed....

The latest iteration of the Mortal Kombat franchise, Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, has some throwbacks to games of old. Some are fun for everyone like, possibly, a new secret Reptile fight. Others are varying degrees of fun, like an infinite combo. Infinite combos are certainly not unique to Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, and have appeared in several fighting games. Basically, an infinite combo is exactly what it says: a combo that can be repeated infinitely....
