French retailer SoGamely appears to have leaked an upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog game. Fans discovered a page on its website titled “Sonic Collection EU Version PS4”, suggesting that some sort of compilation title is in the works, packaging several of the blue blur’s games together on modern consoles. So far the leak doesn’t reveal if it’s coming to any other platforms. Changing the URL to include Switch, Xbox One or Xbox Series X/S doesn’t yield any results - it’s just the PS4 version that has a template webpage....

Easter eggs are often subtle noticed only be the most perceptive players in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. With every major update comes a new series of Easter eggs hidden among the maps, characters, and weapons. Modern Warfare fans have become skilled at noticing these, as one small, easily missed detail was spotted in the new operator’s outfit. Soldiers often write phrases or words into their personal gear, small customizations usually in place after multiple deployments....

It seems like someone ticked a box too early. As spotted by Destructoid, the eShop on Switch currently lists Burnout Paradise Remastered as releasing on June 19, 2020. While the exact wording states “estimated release date,” it’s pretty likely that EA would push its open-world racer out then. The official window is “June 2020” and this date falls right in line with that. I even checked myself to see if this wasn’t a random fluke....

During a post-conference interview, God of War’s developer reveals the game is set after the third entry in the franchise, and does not contain an open world. It’s no secret at this point that Sony’s E3 2016 press conference contained a lot of big announcements, among them the reveal of a new God of War game. As many fans will attest, the hearty helping of gameplay footage that set up Sony’s entire showcase for the night had lots surprising elements, such as a new behind-the-back camera perspective, a more deliberate and measured pace, as well as an older Kratos showing patience and empathy for the first time in the series....

Good news for fans of Nier: Automata. It looks like a new version of a must-have HD texture pack has been released by a modder. This new pack overhauls over 300 textures on the game, giving new life to the fan-favorite RPG. Modder GPUnity has been offering a HD texture pack for Nier: Automata since late 2018. Initially, the pack included improvements to A2 and 2B and added small improvements or updates to some of the other textures in the game....

Throughout 2020, Steam users have been treated to a number of Game Festival events that have provided them with plenty of free demos, and by this point, it’s clear that they’re not going away anytime soon. In fact, the Steam Game Festival will be returning in October, and future events are already being planned for next year. It’s easy to see why these have become so popular. The monument was created by Twitter user Roland Oberheim, who used a seemingly basic assortment of floor panels to construct the massive, 37x50 shrine. The monument is an incredibly detailed photo of Sean Murray’s face in black and white, beard and all. Fans of Square Enix’s old-school RPG Octopath Traveler have had to wait longer than expected for the next entry in the series, the free-to-play mobile prequel Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent. Fortunately, the wait will be ending soon (for Japanese fans, at least), and in anticipation of that, Square has released a new trailer for it. Earlier today, Bungie announced it is delaying Destiny 2’s Beyond Light expansion because of issues working remotely, and it certainly is not the only developer that has faced these concerns. Annual events and conventions such as E3 have also been cancelled or moved online as a result of the pandemic....

In a short trailer at the Xbox and Bethesda E3 showcase, Contraband - an open world co-op game - was announced. Set in a fictional Southeast Asian country, Bayan, players take the role of smugglers. The game is set in the 1970s, and will focus on exploration. While the trailer didn’t give much else away, it’s the latest game from Avalanche Studios, in partnership with Xbox Game Studios. “Contraband is our most ambitious game yet and working closely together with Xbox Games Studios has been a great experience", said game director Omar Shakir after the reveal....

Anyone interested in buying the original version of Dragon Quest 11 digitally is out of luck now. In the wake of yesterday’s multiplatform launch of Dragon Quest 11 S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition, it’s been discovered that the base game has been delisted from digital storefronts. As spotted by ResetEra members and PushSquare, a quick search on the PlayStation Store and Steam now only brings up the Definitive Edition, with the 2018 original nowhere to be seen....

With Overwatch being Blizzard Entertainment’s fastest growing franchise to date, there’s no doubt that when many contemporary gaming fans think about the publisher and developer, their minds invariably go to the team-based shooter. Of course, the company is well-known for many other titles as well, particularly its StarCraft series, which is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary by adding new content across Blizzard’s other properties, with the aforementioned shooter’s sniper Widowmaker is getting a new skin based on a character from the sci-fi real-time strategy franchise....

Modding a game like Blizzard Entertainment’s team-based shooter Overwatch can lead to some interesting results, such as giving Widowmaker creepy spider legs that let her climb up walls. However, some ideas completely change the scope of what players might believe is possible in Overwatch, such as Bonkorn’s “OWWare” mod that turns the shooter into a WarioWare-style mini-game collection. Inspired by a custom SourceMod game mode in Team Fortress 2 called “TF2Ware,” Bonkorn’s mod adds 48 simple five-second objectives for players to complete in a custom arena like what fans of titles such as Game & Wario would expect: Moving to specific locations, dodging certain attacks, using emotes, and so on....
