Over the past month developer OMGPOP has gone from relative obscurity to overnight success all with a clever little app called Draw Something. Essentially an asynchronous version of Pictionary, Draw Something became an overnight phenomenon and, chances are, you have a handful of games going on right now. As Draw Something and OMGPOP grew in popularity it was inevitable that larger publishers/corporations would take note. One such publisher was Zynga, who have made their own claim to fame with their many Facebook games like FarmVille....

My Outriders Trickster, named Lincoln, dinged level 30 just as the final boss keeled over and died roughly 26 hours into the game. Were this typical single-player RPG, there would be something immeasurably satisfying about hitting max level just as the credits roll. Unfortunately, in a game like Outriders, everything that happens before level 30 is just the tutorial. Had the leveling process ended sooner, there’s a good chance more players would have the opportunity to experience the crunchy and satisfying builds that are possible with the right gear and abilities....

Introducing the latest Overwatch hero: Jeff Kaplan. YouTube user Astronot has re-imagined the Blizzard executive and game director as an actual Overwatch hero in an, admittedly, pretty hilarious parody video. Entitled much like a legitimate first look at an upcoming playable character, “New Hero Preview: Jeff Kaplan” sees the game’s development team crafting the newest, most powerful, and “totally unfair” hero in Jeff. The video describes Jeff as hero that “evolves and pushes the boundaries of what the Overwatch universe could be,” inspired by designs, stories, and even art that has popped up throughout the character development process....

After months of leaks and rumors about the subject, EA has finally confirmed that Apex Legends will be coming to Nintendo Switch on March 9th, 2021. This highly popular free-to-play battle royale hitting the Switch is a major achievement, considering the only other platforms it is available on are PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles. Along with this announcement, fans have also learned that Panic Button is developing this re-release. Panic Button is known for its work on several of the most impressive Switch ports so far, including similarly advanced titles such as Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, DOOM, and DOOM Eternal....

Paper Mario: The Origami King debuted in July of 2020 on the Nintendo Switch to both confusion and delight from critics. The first Paper Mario came out in 2000 and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door followed up only four years afterward. After that, however, the series would see a serious dip in quality. The mixed reviews aren’t set to stop; critics will never understand why Mario can’t stick to his typical game, and fans of this style are happy to see him venture outside of his comfort zone....

Players seem to be enjoying Monster Hunter World since its release this past month, however, beating the final monster in the game can be difficult and lengthy, but there are some tricks to hunt this monster and save some time. Reddit user JFW0RD pointed out some tips to beat Xeno’jiva at the end of Monster Hunter World. After players are able to take down the beast the first time, there is a two-quest opportunity to take down the monster a second time....

About a week ago, Capcom released an official trailer showing that Elder Dragons would be making their way into the forthcoming role-playing game Monster Hunter World, but some fan-favorite creatures were surprisingly absent in the clip. Now, thanks to one eagle-eyed fan, it looks as if a television advertisement in Japan has confirmed that the title will include the Elder Dragon Kirin. As seen below in the video courtesy of the YouTuber known as Sute Aka, Monster Hunter World fans can get a glimpse of Kirin in action, with the Unicorn-esque Elder Dragon summoning lighting to attack the player and then rearing up on its hind legs....

Tyler “Ninja” Blevins and Penguin Random House publishing have announced the release of the second installment in Ninja’s self-titled graphic novel series, Ninja: War for the Dominions. The first installment in the series, Ninja: The Most Dangerous Game, released in 2019 and chronicles Ninja as he embarks on gaming adventures in a fictional world. Ninja: War for the Dominions picks up from the first installment and sees Ninja facing evil overlord Strigus Thule and his Great Beasts....

New Pokemon Snap launches today for Nintendo Switch, offering millions of aspiring Pokemon photographers from all over the world the opportunity to snap their favourite ‘mons in action. Set in the mysterious Lental region, New Pokemon Snap features a wide variety of different biomes all of which are home to their own unique sweet of particularly photogenic Pokemon. While I noted that New Pokemon Snap is an incredibly meditative experience in my review, it’s worth noting that it still requires a large amount of skill and patience to excel in....

The Initiative, a new development studio for Xbox, has recently announced the hiring of Sylvia Chambers, an animator who worked on Uncharted 4. At E3 in 2018 Microsoft announced a number of new studios and acquisitions, The Initiative being one of them. Based in Santa Monica, the new studio is in the process of creating their first game and has hired a number of big names in the industry. According to Gamespot, Sylvia was an animator who worked on AAA titles like Uncharted 4, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, and Battlefield V....
