Last year, Oculus VR — the tech firm behind the potentially game-changing Oculus Rift — was bought by Facebook in a turn of events that shocked many in the industry. It wasn’t long before concerns about what the move would herald for the future of virtual reality for video games, and comments made last week by Oculus VP for products Nate Mitchell won’t do much to assuage any fears. Speaking with the LA Times at CES last week, Mitchell reiterated that the team at Oculus are ‘big gamers’, and that they started the company with the goal of bringing VR to the video game industry clear in their minds....

With Week 2 of Overwatch’s Archives event having kicked off, two new Challenge Missions have been released for the Retribution campaign mission. Week 2 will also be having Torbjorn’s epic skin, Rustclad, available through winning nine games in Quick Play, Competitive, or Arcade. Back in 2018, Overwatch Retribution was released for the Archives event, featuring the Blackwatch heroes, Reaper, McCree, Genji, and Moira. However, the Challenge Missions released for this year are available for most of Overwatch’s cast of heroes....

Pathfinder 2E has received a second update to its core rules, including a number of changes to the alchemist class — and a few corrections to spells and spellcasting. Since its release on August 1, 2019, Pathfinder 2E has gone through two major updates, the last of which includes numerous changes to alchemists, feats, spells, and spellcasting. Pathfinder 2E’s initial errata was released on October 30, 2019, and comprised of a total of six pages of updates....

The Payday franchise has become a cult classic, with many fans patiently waiting for info on Payday 3 for some time now. Today, they finally got their wish, and the news regarding the development progress being made on Payday 3 is sure to please many fans. Within a post on the official Twitter account for the series, the Payday 3 developers gave an update on how far into development the next heist-focused FPS is....

In Monster Hunter Rise, a big component of the game is carving the monsters defeated and using their parts for armor and weapons. However, these items can vary a lot in their rarity, with very low drop rates for certain items. Some are even exclusive to specific monsters and have ways to increase their drop rate. The franchise isn’t just hack and slash battles, there’s a lot more to it than that....

Capcom announced on Twitter that the company will be hosting a Monster Hunter Rise gameplay showcase presentation later today on Twitch at 3:30 pm PST / 6:30 pm EST. The presentation will also include some popular streamers and content creators who will be most likely participating in one of the game’s monster hunts online with four-player co-op play. The exclusive look at Monster Hunter Rise later today will feature AdmiralBahroo, Maximilian_DOOD, Dansgaming, and Matimi0....

Capcom has released a new trailer for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, and it seems to confirm some new dishes will be coming for our Felyne friends. Iceborne, Monster Hunter: World’s upcoming expansion, will add a ton of stuff to the game. There will be new monsters, new gear, no weapon features, and best of all, new things to eat. We already know that hot drinks will be part of the expansion to stave off the bitter cold of Hoarfrost Reach, but it seems that our Palico friends will also get some updated recipes better suited to the cold environs of the New World....

New reports back up claims that multiple PlayStation exclusives will be ported to PC, but add that there are still no plans for Bloodborne to be a part of that project. PlayStation sent quite the message via its strong slate of exclusives on PS4 and has kept that up so far on PS5. Not just via the addition of games like Returnal and Rift Apart, but also through the acquisition of Housemarque, the studio behind Returnal....

Mortal Kombat 11 released an eight-second teaser on Twitter today featuring a Tarkatan running through a forest, seemingly being chased. The Mortal Kombat 11 video is captioned, “They are koming,” which may imply multiple DLC characters will be revealed on October 8 at 8:00 a.m. CDT. Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon also shared the teaser and said, “Who is chasing that Tarkatan?” Based on clues and previous leaks, fans have put together theories of what could be happening in the video....

Tekken 7 will be adding several new playable characters in its upcoming season, including franchise veterans and The Walking Dead’s own Negan. As the Tekken 7 finals wrapped up at Evo 2018, the game’s designers teased a few more characters being added to the game shortly. Among them were familiar Tekken faces Lei Wulong and Anna Williams, as well as… well, the last character anybody was expecting. Negan, the barbed-wire-baseball-bat-wielding psychopath from The Walking Dead....

The last few months have witnessed a slew of information morsels drop surrounding the Call of Duty game recently decrypted as Black Ops 2, all of which appear to be dovetailing into an official May 1 premiere during the NBA playoffs – and all of which appear to give us a tiny hint about what to expect come this November. Perhaps the greatest revelation yet is that Black Ops 2 likely won’t be set anywhere near the haunting mysteries of its 60’s Cold War predecessor, but rather in the future 10 to 15 years from now....

DC Comics announced a major promotion today. Marie Javins, who along with Michelle Wells was interim co-editor in chief of the comics publisher following a post-merger reorganization by AT&T, has been named the sole and permanent EIC. Daniel Cherry III, himself a new hire as DC’s general manager, praised Javins, saying in a statement that “Marie intrinsically understands the power of comics and their unique ability to entertain and empower, which makes her a perfect choice to be DC’s next Editor-in-Chief....

The full trailer for Paul W.S. Anderson’s adaptation of Capcom’s Monster Hunter franchise has been released and as expected, big monsters and the hunting thereof feature heavily. Co-produced by Tencent Pictures, the production company owned by gaming giants Tencent, and Toho, the studio behind legendary kaiju series Godzilla, there’s some serious pedigree behind this film. Along with Anderson’s experience in adapting games like Mortal Kombat and the Resident Evil series, this promises to be an adaptation that at least resembles the immensely popular action RPG series....

Since Ash’s introduction in the late 90’s, the ten-year-old boy’s appearance has changed steadily over the years. Although the general design has remained much the same throughout the majority of the Pokemon franchise, Ash’s look was significantly altered for the Pokemon Sun and Moon anime series - and it’s about to change once more. For the upcoming twenty-first Pokemon movie, Wit Studio, of Attack on Titan fame, is partnering up with current show animators OLM in order to bring a new look to the long-running franchise....

Following the release of the original versions of Nier Replicant and Gestalt to lukewarm responses, very few JRPG fans would’ve expected that the series would spawn a sequel that’s regarded as one of the best in the genre. Fewer still would expect that there’d be enough interest in that game to warrant a re-release of the original one console generation later, but surprise, that re-release happened. Love it or hate it, few can deny that Nier Replicant hit the bullseye in designing unique characters and levels....

Nintendo is well aware players want to play more than just NES titles on Switch Online. Nintendo launched its online subscription service back in September and has seen notable success; it was reported in April that Nintendo Switch Online had received nearly 10 million subscribers. Although having to pay to play online is common practice among video game companies, Nintendo was the last to implement a subscription model. Core players would, of course, subscribe to play competitive titles such as Super Smash Bros....

Sir Robert Bryson Hall II, or Logic as he is known internationally, has set his eyes on Twitch in the wake of his retirement from the rap game. His last and final album, titled No Pressure, will debut this coming Thursday, while his streaming career has already taken flight with several years of experience under his belt and well over 80,000 followers (as of this writing). Although leaving hip-hop in the past, Logic instead takes on a new, far more interactive gaming sphere with a whopping 7 figure exclusivity deal with Twitch....

The official reveal trailer has arrived for Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time and it spells bad news for any Crash games to have happened since 1998. Various details leaked over the weekend pertaining to the existence of a brand new Crash Bandicoot game. Those details included the title, its release date, the platforms on which it will be released, and even a few screenshots. There was also a suggestion that Crash will be following in the footsteps of Sonic Mania and attempting to erase some of its own franchise’s history....

The Horizon series has almost limitless potential when it comes to enemy designs. While some of the foes Aloy does battle with are humans, a lot of the time, it’s with Machines. And since these are the animals of Horizon’s world - though organic animals still exist - and are heavily influenced by dinosaurs, being a thematic icon for the restart of the evolutionary cycle, the possibilities are endless. Any animal that exists or ever has existed, along with every dinosaur ever - all of these have potential to become Machines....
