A couple of days ago, Blizzard announced that Overwatch’s annual Lunar New Year event would return on January 24, this time celebrating the Year of the Pig. Each day until the Lunar New Year event starts, Overwatch fans can look forward to new skin reveals, with the first two being Reaper and Hanzo. On its various social media pages, Overwatch has revealed the Lunar New Year skins for Reaper and Hanzo, with the Reaper skin proving to be especially popular so far....

The next console generation is right around the corner, with both Microsoft’s Xbox Series X and Sony’s PlayStation 5 preparing to release next month. The Xbox Series X price and release date was announced early in September after multiple details leaked online, including the existence of the cheaper Xbox Series S, but it appears Xbox has a few more announcements to make before the official launch on November 10. Video game adaptations haven’t exactly had the best reputation over the years. But one film that keeps coming up in conversations about the better ones out there is the original Mortal Kombat. Released in 1995, the film had embraced most of the things fans loved about the video games in the series, while still telling a story that could be enjoyed by casual audiences. 2014 came and went without a new entry in EA’s Need for Speed series, with both publisher and developer Ghost Games opting to take the year off in favor of putting more time into this year’s new game. The New Mutants has had a long rough road on its way to movie theaters, and now that it’s out, the hits just keep coming. In addition to bad reviews from the handful of critics who risked COVID to see it, with a scorching 20% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes at time of writing, the characters’ co-creator Bob McLeod has denounced the film on social media. While McLeod seems primarily disappointed in the film’s questionable casting, the icing on the cake is that his name is misspelled “MacLeod” in its credits....

New Pokemon Snap has captured the hearts of Pokemon fans both old and new, with players rushing to locate all 214 Pokemon within the Lental region. With so many to find—including a few well-hidden mythical and legendaries—it’s unsurprising that some of these Pokemon have proved harder to locate than others, with many fans struggling to fill in the last few gaps in their Photodex. Fred Seibert of Frederation Studios, known for Adventure Time, confirms that a longstanding video games series is about to be made into a cartoon show by Nickelodeon. Be it the recent Netflix-exclusive Skylanders series, the animated Sonic Boom show, or even the upcoming Mega Man cartoon, there are several examples of ongoing initiatives to get gaming franchises in front of new audiences.
