Overwatch players have long expressed their frustration at the game’s matchmaking, saying that match-ups often feel unfair. At one point, players managed to create a better matchmaking tool than the game’s built-in matchmaking technology. It seems that Overwatch developer Blizzard has heard those calls for better matchmaking and the company recently released a new update that aims to fix things. Available now on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, the patch affects matchmaking in the Competitive Play mode....

Overkill Software has announced that Payday 2 will be receiving stat-boosting paid loot crate content, triggering some fans to protest about a pay-to-win culture potentially ruining the game. Two years after its release, Payday 2 is still alive and well thanks to a healthy topping of DLC releases and an active userbase. Now, developer Overkill Software has ambitious plans to introduce paid DLC which will give players stat-boosting weapon skins, in a manner which will be integrated with the Steam Marketplace economy....

NeoGaf users believe that Sony is going to delay the launch of the PlayStation 5 due to changes on Sony’s website. Sony had set plans to release the PlayStation 5 during the 2020 holiday. This was evident because PlayStation 5’s website listed it as “coming fall 2020.” This typically indicates a November release to kick off the holiday shopping season. However, a NeoGaf user named “Darkinstinct” was quick to notice that Sony had removed this release date from its website....

Receiving a lengthy delay last year, Halo Infinite is currently one of Microsoft’s biggest priorities going into 2021, with the company looking to release it this coming fall. In correspondence with the game’s forthcoming debut, it seems 343 Industries has opted to get some Infinite merchandise onto shelves, with Nerf’s latest Halo tie-in now officially available to purchase. The toy in question is the Nerf Bulldog SG Dart Blaster, which is modeled after one of the new additions to Master Chief’s arsenal that will debut in Halo Infinite....

Dominic Mallinson, the Sony Global Head of R&D, has stated that there will not be a new PSVR headset to coincide with the launch of the next generation console, currently referred to as the PS5. While some were hoping for something new, this is actually fantastic news for players considering the purchase of the current hardware. Sony has committed to making the current PSVR compatible with its next generation console, and while whatever version comes next is sure to be an improvement on what exists now, the announcement means that players probably have years before Sony releases any new hardware....

Recently, it was announced that Oculus users would have to tie their accounts to Facebook, which caused an uproar in the virtual reality community. And then it seemed as though Facebook was going to ban any Oculus users who were simultaneously signed-in on multiple Oculus headsets, essentially forcing families to sign up for multiple Facebook accounts and buy multiple copies of the same game if they wanted to do something like play multiplayer together....

Oculus opens pre-orders for their first generation VR headset, the Oculus Rift, starting on January 6 at 8:00am Pacific Time. Price and release information is still unknown. As the festivities for the International Consumer Electronics Show begin today with various keynotes and parties, Oculus got out ahead of the VR anticipation with an announcement of their own. On January 6, the day that CES 2016 officially opens its doors, pre-orders for the Oculus Rift VR headset will begin....

It’s hard to ignore the major pushes companies have been making in virtual reality, especially if you’re a gamer. With the likes of Sony developing the PlayStation VR for its PlayStation 4, the obvious thing for Microsoft to do with its Xbox One would be to push its current partnership with Oculus over to its home console. Moon Studios CEO Thomas Mahler has posted an apology on Twitter for “overly aggressive” criticism directed at a number game developers, saying he “screwed up” and promising to “learn from this mistake.” On Wednesday, Mahler took aim at Populous and Fable creator Peter Molyneux, Hello Games founder and No Man’s Sky creator Sean Murray, and Cyberpunk 2077 studio CD Projekt Red in a harshly worded statement on Resetera that received countless comments from gamers, both supporting Mahler as well as viewing his criticism as misguided....

Nobody likes to be told they’re playing with the worst class in Outriders. Like many looter games, gamers, even hardcore ones, are often more focused on the entertainment of the experience than optimization and min/maxing. If a class is fun to play and it can beat the game, then who cares what somebody has to say about it? That’s a solid stance to take, but the endgame experience is going to be grouping up in threes....

Overwatch fans excited to take the game’s 24th character Orisa into Competitive when she was added to the game last week may have been disappointed to find her character portrait grayed-out on the character select screen. Now, one week since Orisa was added to Overwatch, the new tank-class hero can finally be played in the game’s ranked Competitive mode. The delay in adding Orisa to Competitive in Overwatch was done to give players time to learn how to play the new character before taking her into ranked games....

This week, the Overwatch permanent ban system goes live, to ensure that players are treating the game as intended and that there is be a level playing field. But right as the new ban system is set to be introduced, fans have discovered a major bug in the game that is ruining their Competitive fun. The particular Overwatch bug seems to affect players in Competitive matches. It will tell the player that the game is ‘waiting for additional players’ before saying that there aren’t enough players for the match before the cycle restarts over again....

A recent interview has all but confirmed that Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2 will feature an open world and have gameplay that “leverages the vastness of the world”. The confirmation comes from a new interview with IGN that discusses the recently released Episode Intermission for the PS5 version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake. IGN asks about the DLC episode but inevitably asks for more detail on the upcoming sequel....

The first piece of free DLC for the upcoming Monster Hunter World has been announced by Capcom. The powerful monster known as Deviljho will be returning to the series as part of a free update that is planned to be released during spring of 2018. Publisher Capcom has promised that Monster Hunter World will receive regular free updates, which will also include the likes of timed events. They will also offer paid downloadable content, though the exact nature of what will be on sale (whether it will be content or cosmetic items) has yet to be revealed....
