Blizzard announces it is finally making some much needed changes to Overwatch hero Torbjorn. There had been minor updates on the progress of these changes over the past few months, but nothing was concrete until now. The specifics of the Torbjörn rework were shared through the most recent Overwatch Developer Update, and were delivered, as usual, by head honcho Jeff Kaplan. First off, armor packs have been removed. Gone are the days of flinging them all over the stage for players to collect....

Veteran fans of the Monster Hunter series are likely already terrified of Monster Hunter World: Iceborne’s next returning monsters, the Raging Brachydios and Furious Rajang, who were announced during PAX East 2020 for the popular expansion’s third free update. After those two come to the New World on March 23, Capcom revealed that the Blazing Black Dragon Alatreon will be added as part of the game’s fourth title update in May....

During Mortal Kombat 11’s Kommunity Reveal live stream, NetherRealm Studios announced that the forthcoming fighting game would have a gear system allowing players to customize the appearance of each roster member. Now, it has been confirmed that the actual items to be used in the gear system will not have any stats attached to them, as they will only provide cosmetic changes to the characters. This much has been declared by Trevor Traub, the Producer for the Core Technology Group at NetherRealm Studios, with the developer going on to state that Mortal Kombat 11 players will be able to “slot in” augments in the gear, which provide modifiers for “either moves or gameplay recovery windows”....

The latest My Nintendo reward has been revealed and it’s a physical calendar for 2021 that has images of characters from different Nintendo Switch games. My Nintendo originally only offered discounts on Nintendo 3DS/Wii U games, so most people ignored it. Over time, Nintendo added the Gold Points system, which can be spent in lieu of money on digital copies of games. Nintendo started adding physical items to My Nintendo in 2019, which has included keyrings and posters based on games like Splatoon 2....

Yesterday, they finally rumbled through computer speakers around the world, confirming the rumors and introducing the first real look at XCOM 2. The exciting in-game trailer showed off a dark future where the XCOM organization is forced to fight guerrilla-warfare-style against a controlling alien presence; not only does the game look great, but by all accounts, it seems like Firaxis listened to its fans and added many features to XCOM 2 based on players’ feedback....

Nickelodeon is bringing back the popular animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender. The brand-new division Avatar Studios will produce original content set in the franchise’s unique world. Creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko have returned to “develop [the] franchise and its storytelling on a vast scale.” Despite airing for just three seasons from 2005 to 2008, Avatar: The Last Airbender is a staple of animated TV. It’s a cult favorite among those who grew up on it, and even some who didn’t....

Infinity Ward was once the premiere studio when it came to Call of Duty games, consistently releasing critically-acclaimed first-person shooters from the original release all the way to Modern Warfare 3. Since Modern Warfare 3, though, the studio has struggled to live up to the expectations set by its previous work, with Ghosts and Infinite Warfare standing as two of the most poorly-reviewed games in the franchise. This has led some to doubt Infinity Ward, but if art director Joel Emslie is to be believed, any doubters will be proven wrong when the studio’s next Call of Duty game launches in 2019....

Gungho’s popular Nintendo Switch brawler Ninjala has recently hit over three million downloads. The free-to-play title has reached massive success in only a few short months. Being a Switch exclusive, Ninjala had to stand out above many other fantastic titles. In late June, the game reached two million downloads. The game’s numbers continue to rise, and we’re still waiting to see how many new players join the brawl in August....

Nintendo doesn’t want anyone talking over today’s Direct presentation and has even asked people not to co-stream. This strange request comes via Nintendo’s official Twitter account, although it’s unclear what steps Nintendo can take to ensure influencers refrain from co-streaming. “Please refrain from mirror distribution of Nintendo Direct video and audio during live distribution of Nintendo Direct,” reads Nintendo’s tweet. “Simultaneous viewing distribution without mirror distribution is possible. After the live distribution of Nintendo Direct, you can post a video that handles the distributed video as long as the content complies with the guidelines....

While speaking to investors yesterday, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said that the company is anticipating delays for its software planned to launch in 2021. Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, most of its currently in-development titles will probably be hit with some kind of delay in response to changing work environments. “Since there are indeed big limitations on what can be done from home, we do think this will have a large impact,” Furukawa stated, “But even so, we are gradually gaining experience in assessing what can and cannot be done remotely, and in determining how much progress we can make on the work we are able to do from home....

One of the unique features of the Nintendo Switch is the fact that it can either be played on the TV as a home console or with the Joy-Con controllers attached as a handheld console. This makes the console really versatile and fun for a wide variety of gamers to enjoy. Lay offs are sadly very commonplace in the video game industry, and the latest developer to be affected is Obsidian Entertainment, most recently known to be working on the South Park RPG. The financial situation is allegedly bad enough that the developer even had to cancel a next generation project. Word of the layoffs came from Obsidian’s own forums. A user had discovered posts from various social networking sites, pointing to ex-employees either job hunting or having already made the switch to another studio....
