Niantic has released a new game in its series of augmented reality mobile titles. Ever since Assassin’s Creed 2, an Assassin’s Creed title has been released every year (almost to the day). The franchise sequel was followed by Brotherhood now being followed by next week’s release of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. While it’s not known whether bartender-turned-assassin Desmond Miles will be in any games past Assassin’s Creed 3, series creative lead Alexandre Amacio stated a month ago that Ubisoft does have a time-line they’re keeping to, and that the first trilogy has to be wrapped up by December 2012....

The highly anticipated next-gen shooter Deathloop is officially coming May 21, 2021. A new trailer from Bethesda confirms that Arkane Studios’ latest isn’t all that far off. Yesterday the New Zealand PlayStation store listed Deathloop’s release date as May 21 of next year, with many speculating that it was either a listing error or placeholder date. However, it turns out that Deathloop will indeed be available by next May. You can check out the official launch date trailer for yourself below....

Bungie is scheduled to reveal the ’next adventure’ in Destiny to fans on Thursday, June 9, including a teaser and a more in-depth discussion with the developers. Save the date, because “This Week At Bungie” has scheduled a livestream for June 9 which every Destiny player will want to make time for. Bungie describes their June 9 reveal as the unveiling of a “new adventure,” a “glimpse at what awaits you later this year,” or in more straight forward terms the announcement of Destiny’s next (and final) premium expansion....

Sony certainly came out swinging during their Paris Games Week press conference today, bombarding PlayStation 4 fans with numerous trailers for a number of upcoming PS4 exclusives. Out of all the trailers released by Sony today, however, perhaps the most impressive looking was the one for the upcoming remake of Ratchet & Clank....

It’s fair to assume that not everyone who makes it in a world overrun by reanimated corpses would be a rag-tag team of badass survivors. Tales of the Walking Dead uses six standalone episodes to give audiences a fresh perspective on what survival looks like depending on time and place. “Every episode is new,” says showrunner Channing Powell, who was also a writer for both The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead....

Today, a trailer was released that provides a glimpse at a brand new Witcher game titled The Witcher: Monster Slayer. It is not the next mainline entry in the successful RPG series, however, but instead will be launching on iOS and Android devices soon. Peter “ppd” Dager has decided to retire from professional Dota 2, the Ninjas in Pyjamas captain announced today. Ppd has been active in competitive Dota since 2013, representing NiP, Evil Geniuses, and OpTic Gaming throughout his career. His future plans are currently unknown, though he does hold esports administration and on-air talent experience. Peter “ppd” Dager joined Evil Geniuses in February of 2014, gaining his first break into the upper echelon of competitive Dota....

A new datamine from the Smite community has discovered that the game is coming to Nintendo Switch. While no specific date was found, there do seem to be special skins planned to celebrate the Switch version. This information comes courtesy of FAERayo, a member of the Nintendo Switch subreddit who runs their own datamining site for Smite. While a post on the Switch subreddit made the announcement, FAERayo’s breakdown on their site, appropriately called smitedatamining....

Macronix, Nintendo’s biggest chip supplier, has just indicated that the game company has requested more chips in the past two months than was first expected, leading many to believe the rumors of a Nintendo Switch mini console are true. Nintendo always seems to have the last laugh when it comes to console sales. While this wasn’t the case with the Wii U, the Nintendo Switch is another story. Although the Switch was released close to three years after the PS4, that didn’t seem to matter much, as it was recently able to surpass the total sales of the PS4 in Japan....

The new Nintendo Switch OLED model is now available for pre-order at select retailers. Coming in at $350 USD, this iteration of Nintendo’s popular console will release on October 8th, 2021. While this OLED model might not be the much sought-after Switch Pro you were hoping for, it does sport some slight upgrades to the console’s hardware. After almost two years, the legal battle between Nintendo and RomUniverse is over. The company came out victorious with millions in damages and the takedown of RomUniverse. However, the money given to Nintendo falls far short of what it asked. It all started in 2019 when Nintendo filed a lawsuit against RomUniverse. The site hosted downloadable files of Nintendo Switch games, which the company argued violated copyright infringement. The allegations went further, with Nintendo claiming that RomUniverse owner Matthew Storman sold premium memberships that allowed users more efficient access to illegally-listed games....

Nuzlockes are a great way for older Pokemon fans to inject some much needed difficulty and variety into the games - they are, after all, designed for kids. Nuzlockes add three main rules: if a Pokemon faints, it’s dead; you can only catch the first Pokemon you encounter on each route; and you must nickname all your Pokemon to form an attachment to them. If you’re like me and you like to play hardcore runs where you can’t use healing items in battle and you can’t overlevel the next gym leader or boss fight, then you quickly realise you can’t rely on just one strong Pokemon and you have to grind a whole team, which is the absolute worst....

Quirky platformer Oddworld: Soulstorm serves as a continuation of the Oddworld: New ‘N’ Tasty story and is set directly after that game’s events. You’ll assume Abe’s role, as the Mudokons’ savior and leader. As with the previous entries in the Oddworld franchise, there’s a story revolving around Abe and his quest to free his people. There are multiple endings in this series’s latest entry, so how you perform in your playthrough will influence how Abe’s story ends....

Although Bungie has slowly started to pull back the veil of secrecy around Destiny 2’s upcoming Beyond Light expansion, there are still plenty of details about the DLC that players won’t know until the content goes live. Even so, that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating about how best to approach the new content and also how some existing parts of Destiny 2 could change in Beyond Light. One theory among Destiny 2 players in the community is that the Osmosis weapon perk could become very useful in Beyond Light, if it continues to work as advertised....

Outer Wilds has officially launched by studio Mobius Digital, and is currently available for Windows, OS X, and Xbox One. The project was initially developed by Team Outer Wilds, and began as Alex Beachum’s USC Interactive Media & Games Division master’s thesis before evolving into the finished product of today. While other titles released in recent memory are both rooted in speculative Science-Fiction and space exploration, we would have a difficult time grouping Outer Wilds among them....
