Outriders is finally out in this too quiet gaming season. After the game’s demo hit 2 million downloads across all platforms in its first week, the developers shared their optimism for the full version. Well, now the first statistics is upon us: Outriders hits over 100,000 concurrent players on Steam in the first hours after launch. With the game’s demo achieved an impressive milestone, a month ago Square Enix reported the company expected even more players to join Outriders on the project’s full launch....

Gamers who have desperately wanted to save their most impressive moments in Overwatch don’t have much longer to wait, according to Game Director Jeff Kaplan. After a series of posts on the Battle.net forums, Kaplan announced that the team is hard at work with making a highlight exporting feature. One thing that has been long missing from Blizzard’s latest first-person shooter Overwatch is the ability to save and send highlights or Play of the Game clips to other users....

Part of what makes Blizzard’s Overwatch so consistently compelling is the developer’s complete lack of fear in making significant changes to the game. Sometimes, those decisions are relatively easy to make and won’t cause any public backlash - when Blizzard significantly reduced Overwatch’s loot box duplicates, there was never any danger of raising fans’ ire. Yet the company has been comfortable making changes that target specific characters in the multiplayer game as well, and although they usually benefit its gameplay, they are usually met with loud disapproval from certain fans....

Following the success of its popular Overwatch Christmas event, Blizzard release a free new update, adding Arabian map Oasis for players on all platforms The Winter Wonderland update might be done with, but there’s still new content coming to Blizzard’s first-person shooter, Overwatch, as the company announces that new map Oasis is now available on all platforms. As a new update is released to remove Overwatch’s Christmas-themed event from the game, Blizzard has been extra generous to players as we move into 2017....

It’s that time of year once again, as a new developer log from Overwatch’s Jeff Kaplan just announced that the game’s annual Winter Wonderland event will be returning on December 12. As usual, the themed event will be host to a range of new skins, emotes, sprays, and even a special new way to play in the Arcade. With last year’s introduction of Mei’s Snowball Offensive being labelled as a huge success, the popular mode will be making another appearance this Overwatch holiday event as players team up for a squad-based snowball fight....

ARPGs thrive off of interesting loot for players to chase. Games like Diablo 3 focus on set items, while others like Grim Dawn focus more on crafting and item modifiers. Path of Exile firmly falls in Grim Dawn’s camp of crafting being paramount to success, but that doesn’t mean that Unique items don’t serve a purpose. Certain Unique items can enable entire playstyles or builds, while other Uniques are so terrible that they are a detriment to use rather than a boon....

While Rocksteady Studios will be ushering in a new Silver Age of Batman with their recently rumored prequel, there will be one integral piece of the Batman team that will be, as of right now, left behind. Paul Dini, writer on both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, has confirmed that he has not been tasked with writing the previously mentioned next Batman title. That isn’t to say Dini wouldn’t like to be involved — his interactions with fans via Twitter suggests he would have loved to go back to London — but apparently things didn’t work out this time around....

With Capcom’s Monster Hunter Rise launching within this week and Monster Hunter World: Iceborne close to being two years old, the Iceborne development team does not seem to have any more updates to share with the game’s community. Given that the final MHW free title update was released back in late 2020, it seems it is up to the fans to create ways for their fellow players to keep active within the game, mostly through speed run challenges or fan-created mods....

Apple has deleted over 8,000 games from their iOS App Store in China after they failed to meet approval by government regulators in China. The news comes from Niko Partners, a company that tracks and monitors the video game market in China. They released the news that over 8,000 titles were taken down by Apple after failing to meet new requirements by the National Press and Publication Administration. Earlier this year, the NPPA announced that all paid games or games with in-app purchases on the China App Store would be required to have a valid ISBN by June 30, 2020....

After postponing the official start to the NBA 2K 2020 league on March 12, the organization has decided to make do by moving competitive events online, beginning on Friday, March 27, with the first-ever “NBA 2KL League Three for All Showdown.” The online 3-on-3 tournament will feature fan-organized teams, top female 2K players, and social media influencers – all competing in the NBA 2K20 MyPark mode for a share of a $25,000 prize pool....

2014 has been the locus of expectation for a new Batman Arkham game ever since series developer Rocksteady was linked to a possible Silver Age, Justice League prequel last July. But apparently Warner Bros. Interactive has hastier intentions. Though not naming a development studio, the publisher revealed today that a new installment in the Arkham franchise will be arriving in 2013. DC Comics publisher Jim Lee has revealed that 12 Years a Slave scribe John Ridley is writing a new Batman mini-series that “will have a huge impact on the rest of the line.” The new project was announced by Lee while talking to THR about the state of DC Comics in the wake of mass layoffs at the comic book publisher. Lee didn’t go into any further detail about the mini-series or how it’ll play into what James Tynion IV is doing on the main Batman book, Tom King and Clay Mann are planning in their Batman/Catwoman maxi-series, and Geoff Johns and Jason Fabok are about to unleash in Three Jokers....

CD Projekt RED confirms that it is just two months away from revealing new Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay to the public. At the Xbox press conference at E3 2019, CD Projekt RED revealed a brand new trailer for the game, but the studio also showed extended gameplay to the media that members of the public weren’t able to see. After teasing that new Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay would be coming after Gamescom 2019, which takes place between August 20 - 24, CD Projekt RED’s global community lead Marcin Momot confirmed the new gameplay is coming at PAX West....

We’re still a ways out from Diablo 4’s release, but Blizzard likes to keep eager fans in the loop with a quarterly update schedule. This quarter’s update dove deep into the art, the characters, and the in-game models that you’ll likely see when Diablo 4 eventually releases. It’s not a guarantee, mind you, but art director John Mueller said that what you see here is a “very good representation of what you will see when the game is in your hands....

The people who are interested in playing the Pokémon Trading Card Game can now purchase new pre-made Battle Decks based on tag teams formed by Charizard or Pikachu. In the Pokémon Trading Card Game, there are special types of Pokémon called Tag Team Pokémon-GX cards. Tag Team cards feature more than one Pokémon in their artwork and they each possess high HP, powerful GX moves, and the ability to make their GX attacks stronger through using additional Energy cards....

If this all sounds a little familiar, that’s because the first reports of New World bricking certain GPU models started to appear during the game’s recent closed beta period. At that time, the New World team issued a statement in which they assured users that these failures were statistically rare and that they had decided to “cap” the game’s menu framerate as a precaution to help prevent further issues. Shortly thereafter, GPU manufacturer EVGA confirmed that some of the bricked GPUs they received from New World players were actually at least partially caused by manufacturing issues related to the smoldering process....

More importantly, a few of these concerns aren’t just limited to New World streamers. In some ways, New Worlds‘ streamers may instead be speaking for some of the game’s players who just don’t have as loud of a voice… New World’s Territory System May Not be Balanced With Streamers in Mind It’s nearly impossible for studios to fully account for the presence of streamers in their games and the ways their presence will fundamentally alter the “intended” experience....

Xbox One users that are a part of the Xbox One Insider program should start seeing a prompt to download a brand new update for their console. This update offers some quality of life improvements, addresses some lingering bugs with the console, and also adds some exciting new features. Arguably the biggest addition in this new Xbox One update is the Next Achievements feature. This feature will allow players to track achievements across multiple games, including the option to sort achievements by rarity or how close they are to achieving them....

A new Legend of Zelda game seems to be on its way to development. According to Nintendo’s Japanese website, Nintendo is looking to hire a “3DCG designer of The Legend of Zelda Series.” When translating the job page, one can see the various aspects related to making a Legend of Zelda game. Level design, dungeons, and concept art are all mentioned. Clearly, Nintendo is working on something Legend of Zelda related....
