Nintendo brought some solid games to this year’s E3 showcase, but there was one glaring omission: Metroid Prime 4. The game was originally announced at last year’s E3, with no news since. Fans expected to hear more, possibly even see some footage, but were instead greeted with complete silence on the topic. It turns out there’s a perfectly reasonable explanation for that. Nintendo isn’t ready to show Metroid Prime 4 yet....

Sci-fi and fantasy stories have plenty of iconic locations set in volcanic hellscapes, and No Man’s Sky is no different. It should be no surprise, then, to see that No Man’s Sky players have taken to recreating Star Wars’ Mustafar and The Lord of the Rings’ Mordor in-game. The No Man’s Sky Origins update brought all kinds of new life and variety to the game’s galaxies. Prior to the update, there were only a handful of plants and animals on each world....

It’s easy to forget that there is more to the Xbox brand than games. Particularly since the launch of the Xbox One console, Microsoft has developed its gaming brand as one that gives users anything they need in home entertainment, including TV and movie apps. There has even been methods to build on the gaming experience on the Xbox One - from live streaming to an overdue screenshot feature is coming in 2015....

With absolutely no fanfare whatsoever, publisher XSEED Games and Marvelous have announced that No More Heroes 1 and 2 are heading to Steam on June 9. Wow, that’s next week! How was this kept secret for such a long time? There isn’t a price listed on either Steam store page, but we do get confirmation of a few details. These very much welcomed PC ports will feature Steam achievements, Steam trading cards, Cloud saves, and text support for English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese....

Buying games digitally may be the future, but for a lot of people it’s the present. Soon, the days when people travel to a physical store or order a boxed copy of a game online will be gone because, hey, downloading a game is far more convenient. And who wants to pay for shipping anymore? PC players have more or less made this shift already, due in part to Steam, but that isn’t to say that owning physical copies of games will go away....

In Early Access from Chimeric, Nova Drift is a classic arcade space combat game with added Roguelike elements that constantly evolve the player’s ship in insanely different ways each time they play. Upon first glance, the game looks and plays very much like the classic, Asteroids. It only takes a few moments for that feeling to be flipped on its head as Nova Drift dives headfirst into a wild ride....

Video games have been around for decades and companies have been trying to find creative ways to convince people to hand over their money the entire time. Current video game commercials tend to hover between serious and concrete in tone, but there was once a simpler time when companies were willing to show off games and hardware in weirder ways – or by scaring everyone with babies and David Lynch for some reason....

Publisher Square Enix and developer People Can Fly recently kicked off a monthly series of Livestreams dedicated to its upcoming shooter Outriders. In addition to giving us our first real look at the game, this past week’s update confirmed that a few nasty industry practices won’t be making their way into the title. If you’re not a fan of DRM or scummy microtransactions, Outriders might just be for you. At the end of the video (at the 23:36 mark), People Can Fly’s community manager Robbie Palmer addresses that Outriders will not be a “Games as a Service” type game....

Outriders is an upcoming third-person shooter from People Can Fly, the studio that brought fans Gears of War: Judgement and Bulletstorm. It has been confirmed the shooter is coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one, meaning that for those with a subscription, the brand new game will be available at no extra cost. Microsoft has recently confirmed that future Bethesda games will launch on Xbox Game Pass on day one, but with this being a third-party game, this could be a big deal and a sign of things to come for Xbox....

Let’s be honest, the online gaming world is not always the most positive place. A significant portion of the Overwatch fandom has written off the character of Genji entirely. Some even do their best to avoid teams that have Genji amongst their ranks due to the unfair reputation this character has been slated with. But Genji is not a liability if one only knows how to play them correctly. Genji can be a true asset to the team if the person who is playing as said character knows how to use them....

Dan ‘Bacontotem’ Brown and Jon ‘WrstReaperNA’ Kingham become the first players in the world to reach rank 1 in season 3 of Overwatch’s Competitive Play. Dan “Bacontotem” Brown, aka Hanjo, is a man on a mission: to reach the lowest rank in every Overwatch Competitive Play season. Brown has reached the bottom of the barrel in the first two seasons of Overwatch Competitive Play, but was beaten in the race to the lowest rank by players from South Korea....

Blizzard releases an impressive new statistic for Overwatch, revealing that the popular hero-based shooter has reached over 20 million registered players. There’s a reason why many gaming companies choose to release sequel after sequel instead of new IP. Established franchises simply stand a better chance of being successful, whereas a new IP is always a financial gamble. However, sometimes pursuing a new IP pays off in a big way, as is the case with the popular shooter Overwatch from Blizzard....

Echo probably has the most unique Ultimate in Overwatch, as it allows her to turn herself into a copy of whoever she targets with it. As one would expect, the Ultimate then grants Echo all of the abilities of the person she copied, including their Ultimate. And this Ultimate — while in the hands of Echo — has an increased charged rate. On top of this, when Echo successfully copies someone, Overwatch literally treats her as that hero....

Overwatch has cultivated a huge audience because of its multiplayer first-person shooter mechanics and personality. The game is no stranger to internal and external jokes, and this has kept fans creating content and participating. It is no surprise that Overwatch is yet again partaking in April Fool’s Day, but it may shock people that it is one of the best jokes to land this year. The update doesn’t affect gameplay but it does change the visuals in the game....

Capcom held a livestreamed Monster Hunter digital event this week to further unveil information regarding two upcoming Monster Hunter games: Monster Hunter Rise and Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. The former is headed to the Switch on March 26, 2021, and the latter will be arriving on Switch and Steam in July 2021. A boatload of new details have surfaced regarding both titles, but many fans were excited to hear about the first title update for Monster Hunter Rise that would include a returning monster named Chameleos....

The Persona series has quickly evolved from one of the many underappreciated Shin Megami Tensei spin-offs around into one of the greatest JRPG series of all time, standing on its own two feet as perhaps the most popular series that Atlus has under its belt at this time. Persona 5 is easily the most popular and successful title in the series, opening the doors for a whole new generation of gamers to experience the brilliance of this groundbreaking franchise firsthand....

Only a few days ago, NetherRealm Studios unveiled Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, a new version of Mortal Kombat 11 that includes the base game, Kombat Pack 1, Aftermath, and the new Kombat Pack 2. This new Kombat Pack adds three brand new characters to the roster: Rain, Mileena, and Rambo, along with new skins for various existing characters. This news comes only a few weeks after game director Ed Boon began teasing players that Mortal Kombat 11 DLC was incoming....

While Disney has not shared official figures on how much revenue Mulan has earned since debuting on the company’s own streaming service, a Yahoo report estimated the film earned $261 million over 12 days on Disney+ based on information provided by the analytics research firm 7Park Data. However, the co-founder of the research firm has now stated that the data was misinterpreted and estimated Mulan only earned $62-$93 million over twelve days....
