Garth Davis, Australian commercial and film director behind Mary Magdalene and Lion, is set to direct the next as-of-yet unnamed Tron movie. Davis will be joining Jared Leto, who was previously confirmed to be starring in the film. In a report from Deadline, the currently unnamed new entry in the Tron franchise has finally gotten its director after years of uncertainty surrounding the film. Davis’s resume appears to be more quality than quantity, with only 4 films under his belt (among several TV episodes and commercials), however his 2016 film Lion received an Oscar nomination for Best Picture, among 5 other nominations....

NieR: Automata is a strange game to try to describe. A lot of people go into it expecting a Devil May Cry type of game but with robots and gratuitous shots of 2B, but what they got was an existential crisis about identity, sense of self, and one’s purpose for existing…and gratuitous shots of 2B. Even in the midst of robots and depression, NieR: Automata is still an action RPG, and what action RPGs need are boss fights....

When the monsters and psychopaths are still scary but the player has the ability to fight back; that is action-horror which seems to be a lost genre, replaced with survival horror which is great on its own. Action-horror games used to be everywhere which resulted in many classics like the Dead Space games. It all started when games like Ghosts ‘N’ Goblins merged an adventure game with horror elements and this continued with the Castlevania series....

Nintendo might have just accidentally leaked the arrival of Nightwolf in Mortal Kombat 11. We’re pretty sure that Nightwolf is going to be the next DLC character to arrive in Mortal Kombat 11. Ed Boon’s latest teaser video ended with the words “you’re next” after showcasing Nightwolf’s intro sequence. Outriders is one of many games that embrace cross-platform play, letting you team up with buds on Xbox while you’re on PlayStation, or even jump into the fray with Steam users. An update disabled this temporarily, but this feature is now back online. This came back with PlayStation and PC last week but as of a couple of days ago, Xbox is also re-enabled for cross-platform play. This update is around 2GB on PC and 600MB on consoles....

Although the Doomfist reveal in Overwatch didn’t contain one ounce of Terry Crews’ voice or likeness, the Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor and video game enthusiast has certainly taken it in stride, but perhaps that’s because he will be playing a role in some capacity in the future for Blizzard’s team-based shooter. One of the most anticipated events of the year for Overwatch players is almost here. Not long after launching the new mode on PC, Blizzard releases ranked Competitive Play for the Xbox One version of Overwatch a week ahead of schedule. After ranked Competitive Play came to the PC version of Overwatch earlier this week, console gamers were told that they had to wait an extra week to enjoy the new game mode. However, the wait is now over for Xbox One users. Competitive Play has gone live on the console, along with a substantial patch, just in time for the long Independence Day weekend....

Overwatch’s official Twitter account has revealed that the game’s Summer Games event will begin tomorrow on Tuesday, August 4th.
