Guillermo del Toro’s neon-drenched monsters-vs-robots epic Pacific Rim wore its influences proudly on its elbow cannon-equipped sleeves, so an anime-style spin-off makes a certain kind of inevitable sense. Pacific Rim: The Black is a seven-episode Netflix Original that seeks to expand the Pacific Rim mythology – think “extended universe” rather than “sequel”....

The rumor mill regarding Mortal Kombat 11 DLC has been very active again in recent times, and the activity continues with potential hits at three new DLC characters to be added eventually. Three of the most often rumored DLC fighters include Ash Williams of the Evil Dead series and what would be returning Mortal Kombat characters Sheeva and Fujin. French-Algerian actor Tahar Rahim first learned about serial killer Charles Sobhraj as a teenager in the 1990s. He picked up the book On the Trail of the Serpent from his older brother’s nightstand, and read about a manipulative murderer who drugged, stole from and killed a series of mostly backpacking victims along South Asia’s “hippie trail” in the 1970s. Two decades later, Rahim would be cast as Sobhraj in true crime drama The Serpent, an eight part series now on Netflix....

Biomutant has been releasing trailers left and right as it gears up for launch, but today gave us the most detailed look at the game in action since its reveal in 2017. New gameplay footage has surfaced online, showing off Biomutant’s massive open world, its fast-paced action, and a lengthy look at its character creator. Late in 2017, around the same time Star Wars Battlefront 2 released and caused a lot of controversy due to the introduction of loot boxes in its multiplayer mode, Electronic Arts announced that it was working on an open world Star Wars game. The new Star Wars game was supposedly going to be a break from the linear and narrative-driven structure of Visceral’s canned Star Wars game, as it would have been a much bigger open world game....

It’s been just over two month since fans of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds had their first chance to test out the “Savage” map, now officially known as as “Sanhok.” The completed version of this new island map rolled out for PC players with Patch 15, which also introduced a slew of UI improvements to the game. As a map, Sanhok has plenty to offer PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds players. It has lots of new spaces and geographical features for players to familiarize themselves with....

Not one week of 2013 has passed without some kind of juicy, polarizing next-gen rumor, or announcement, or tease of an upcoming announcement. These leaks and reports have only become more frequent since the debut of Sony’s “See the Future” trailer on January 31st, and there’s no reason to believe the pace will break anytime soon - certainly not before the February 20th reveal of… whatever it is Sony has in store....

Final Fantasy 14’s development continues to march forward towards the MMO’s expansion, Shadowbringers. Saturday saw Square Enix producer and director Naoki Yoshida kick off the Paris-based Final Fantasy 14 FanFest where he made announcements regarding upcoming content. The biggest surprise of the Opening Ceremony by far was when a familiar masked face popped up on the main screen, that of Yoko Taro, who was there to announce a special upcoming collaboration to bring Nier: Automata into the world of Final Fantasy 14....

When thinking about popular Fortnite streamers, one of the first ones that comes to mind is probably Ninja. Tyler “Ninja” Blevins has made a name for himself on this game thanks to his impressive skill and unique personality, and as a result has become one of the most successful streamers of all time. Recently, it was suggested that he quit playing the game thanks to mounting frustrations about balance and stream sniping, and this rumor began to spread like wildfire....

The Nintendo 64 is maybe the greatest all-time example of getting lemons and making lemonade. When the rest of the gaming industry was making the move to disc, Nintendo stuck with cartridges, giving the N64 the unique feel of having out of date graphics just months after it came out. Regardless, it speaks to Nintendo’s ingenuity that you could make a strong argument the system produced some of the best games of all time: The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time, MarioKart 64, and Super Mario 64 just to name a few....

One of the most exciting things about new video game consoles is that it often means that old franchises can experience sequels or reboots that take advantage of the new available hardware. Both Mario Kart and F-Zero are two of Nintendo’s best franchises and are both crazy racing games. Both series have experienced many titles through the years, but the Gamecube was an important console for the series. The Gamecube featured both Mario Kart: Double Dash and F-Zero GX, two games that push their franchises to unique places....

Splatoon 2 really is one of Nintendo’s hottest Switch properties right now. The question is, what are they cooking up next? As E3 approaches, they promise a Splatoon-related announcement that will truly shock us. Splatoon 2 is clearly a major player in Nintendo’s competitive arsenal. There’s Dark Souls… and then there’s Nioh. That’s a statement that I should’ve considered before committing myself to the responsibility of previewing Nioh 2 - The Complete Edition prior to its release next month. You see, I’m no good at Dark Souls, or any Soulslike game for that matter. Since Outriders announced its delay out of 2020 and into the more open launch date of February 2, 2021, news has unfortunately gone silent. The much anticipated Broadcast 4 has not been dated as of yet, though fans are hopeful the next information session will be arriving in the next few weeks. People Can Fly have already teased that the next broadcast will touch on the end game, what to do when the max level has been reached, as well as how to find some of the best loot in the game....
