As they roll out their plans of bringing Mario and friends to Hollywood, Nintendo has tapped Chris Meledandri, CEO ad founder of Illumination Animation, to join its board of directors as Outside Director. Meledandri, whose animation studio brought us the uber-popular Despicable Me film series and the Minion spin-off prequels (Minions: The Rise of Gru comes out next summer) is now heading the upcoming Mario movie and is expected to join the company’s board of directors pending approval at its annual shareholder meeting, according to Nintendo’s latest financial report....

Since its lackluster launch, developer Hello Games has expanded on No Man’s Sky to release more and more impressive features. Despite rumors that the space exploration game would come to the Nintendo Switch next, it appears that the game is releasing on Xbox Game Pass first. This news follows a promise made in April by Hello Games founder Sean Murray, who said that Hello Games would be releasing “ambitious” updates this year....

An Obsidian Entertainment developer expresses interest in the possibility of working on another entry in the Fallout franchise sometime in the future. Jagex’s latest update for Old School RuneScape makes a few changes to the new Soul Wars minigame and the God Wars Dungeon – ensuring the latter remains accessible to Ironmen. Soul Wars finally launched in OSRS last week, although players were quick to discover several issues with the new minigame. Jagex pumped out a quick patch, fixing many of the smaller problems while promising more adjustments would follow. The team is now ready to launch another round of fixes, which will go live with this week’s update....

Obsidian Entertainment CEO Fergus Urquhart reveals that Black Isle Studios originally worked on two different versions of Fallout 3, including an early 3D version of the game. The Fallout series originally began life as an isometric RPG series in the hands of the now-defunct Black Isle Studios, but when the IP was bought out by Bethesda over a decade ago, the franchise was morphed into the first-person open-world series we all know today....

In the past few weeks Destiny 2’s Eververse store has come under tremendous fire for the way Bungie funnels players in its direction. Early on in Destiny 2, there were concerns that Eververse might become a priority for Bungie when players learned that ships, sparrows, ghosts, and more were locked behind the Bright Engram system, but now that the community has grown frustrated with the endgame and the lack of improvement, those seemingly insignificant issues have been blown wide open....

Torbjorn has always been a peculiar hero in Overwatch. This mechanical, turret-tossing dwarf has always been known as a defensive-oriented character, while also paradoxically residing in the DPS category. His small build and turret ability makes him more of a “one-trick” hero that’s mainly used in specific situations that call for him. He can guard a moving payload or mount a solid defensive for a point, but isn’t usually advised in an offensive push - even after his recent mechanical tweak that’s made him more offensively potent....

Game director Jeff Kaplan himself often personally takes to the online forums in order to inform fans, share a laugh, or in a more recent instance, shut down a troll. With millions of players logging on to test their skills in Overwatch every day, there’s always going to be a few users who just want to complain for the sake of complaining....

Pathfinder: Kingmaker is receiving an Enhanced Edition with new content and a slew of bug fixes in June and will be free to those who already own the game. Pathfinder: Kingmaker was praised upon release for its similarities to the isometric RPGs of old, such as the Baldur’s Gate series, but it was also harshly criticized for a multitude of glitches and significant balance issues in regards to difficulty. Pathfinder: Kingmaker Enhanced Edition promises to fix the issues with the game....

Marvel’s umbrella is covering more A-list actors every day. Oscar Isaac - of Star Wars and Ex Machina fame - will be joining the MCU as Moon Knight in 2022 as part of a new show on Disney+, and his combat training looks intense. Over on Instagram, Isaac’s New York-based production company Mad Gene Media - which he co-founded with filmmaker Elvira Lind - posted a short video showcasing the actor’s training....

Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks has topped a poll from Ed Boon asking fans what their most requested Mortal Kombat remaster is. The poll comes seemingly randomly from series director Ed Boon, who asked fans what past Mortal Kombat game they’d like to see receive a remaster. The choices included Mortal Kombat Deception, Mortal Kombat 2, Mortal Kombat 9 and Shaolin Monks. Although Mortal Kombat 9 garnered near 30% of the votes, Shaolin Monks easily took the led with almost 50% of all of the votes....

As fans eagerly await the release of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, many are closely re-watching the gameplay reveal from last week’s Ubisoft Forward stream. While doing so, many features have since been confirmed, both new and old. For example, the game’s developers recently noted that a feature that was removed from Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will be brought back to the upcoming game: Memory Corridor confessions. However, a new gameplay addition was revealed during the gameplay at Ubisoft Forward, though the developers barely even acknowledged its existence until recently....
