During its PDX Insider event today, Paradox Interactive announced its annual fan event PDXCON is going digital this year. Hosted every year since 2017, PDXCON is an event best known as being the place where Paradox reveals any unannounced upcoming titles. Nintendo’s Animal Crossing New Horizons released in early 2020, garnering ample appraisal—and fans are still trying to complete their ever-expanding DIY collection (“do it yourself” projects). The last year was a strange and experimental time for indie games. Thanks to Let’s Play videos, absurdist humor games reached their zenith with titles like Goat Simulator (and its expansion, Goat MMO Simulator) and Jazzpunk, nostalgia for difficult games found players with Nidhogg and Shovel Knight, and atmosphere and storytelling reigned supreme in games like Transistor and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. With a new year just beginning and a wave of successful games to follow, we have some predictions for what trends we’ll be seeing in new indie games through 2015....

About a couple of weeks ago, the video game publisher and developer Blizzard Entertainment officially announced it would be bringing yet another playable character to its first-person shooter, Overwatch, with the addition of Baptiste.
