Although the team at Microsoft let the games do all the talking during its E3 2014 press conference (a very different strategy from last year’s approach), that doesn’t mean that there aren’t some updates on the way to the Xbox One in the coming year. Microsoft has been incredibly receptive to user feedback and the Xbox One has already had a number of changes patched in to sort out user reported issues or requests....
Recently Microsoft announced that their streaming platform Mixer was no longer going to be supported and was being merged with Facebook Gaming. The news blindsided many streamers whose careers are housed entirely on Mixer with little to no presence elsewhere. Ninja, formerly the unofficial poster child for the platform, dropped in on some of his fellow streamers to offer support in face of the shutdown. According to Gamebyte, Ninja sympathized with many of those left stunned by the news as he too was affected by the announcement....
Volta-X, the newest game from developer GungHo was previously announced for the Nintendo Switch. The robot tactical strategy game was made playable on the PC as well as the handheld system, but now players can battle each other no matter what system they are on thanks to a new feature. The Ninjala creator announced that their newest game will actually support cross-play between the two platforms. The real-time mech strategy title had a successful beta launch as the game is being prepped for release on PC and Switch....
It looks like Nintendo might have something in store for everyone’s favorite gaseous anti-hero. A set of trademarks were filed by Nintendo’s Japanese branch that include some of the games shown in the most recent Nintendo Direct. Among those trademarks was something for “Wario Land.” While not much other details are known, this is the second new trademark filed for the name Wario Land this year. The trademarks were filed specifically for “downloadable video game programs” according to Japanese Nintendo....
To celebrate the release of Pokémon Café Mix Nintendo will be releasing a eShop card inspired by the game’s adorable art. Pokémon Café Mix is the latest game in the Pokémon franchise, in which players complete puzzles to feed hungry Pokémon. By matching icons of popular Pokémon, players can craft special drinks and dishes that are aesthetically delicious for their Pokémon clientele. Think of it as a combination of the Nintendo DS game Pokémon Trozei and Cookin Mama, but cuter and with less rigid rules....
Nissan is to hold an event in Japan starting on 4 February that will showcase its ideas and plans for a more sustainable future for vehicles. Called Nissan Futures, it will focus on sustainability and design innovation, and will run until 1 March at the brand’s Global Headquarters Gallery. It will also host the Nissan Max-Out - a physical concept car that epitomises the company’s ambitions. The Nissan Max-Out concept was first shown in virtual form as part of the Nissan Ambition 2030 vision....
No Man’s Sky is all about exploration, and the various Exocraft enable the player to explore planets with ease. Different Exocraft have different abilities and there are a total of six in the game, unlocked through Blueprints. The tech installed on Exocraft can scan for resources, find hidden locations, and even engage in combat with some angry aliens or some of the more aggressive alien plantlife. Earlier this week Hello Games announced a forthcoming major patch for No Man’s Sky and today that update has been delivered. Patch 1.3, the Atlas Rising update, is exactly what No Man’s Sky fans have been waiting for. It is packed full of content, including 30+ hours of story, vastly expanded or reworked core features, and even the first elements of multiplayer. Atlas Rising is available for download now on PC and PlayStation 4, and is meant to serve as a love letter to fans who have stuck with the game since launch....

AMD’s new RX6000 Series graphics cards have been creating significant positive hype, with the company sharing extremely strong performance benchmarks versus the competition. One of the features driving such potential for the new cards is AMD’s Smart Access Memory, but Nvidia has already announced that it is working on a similar feature for use with all its RTX 30 Series cards. The reveal comes via Gamers Nexus, who reportedly had confirmation from Nvidia that the company already has the feature working internally and will be looking to roll it out to RTX 30 Series graphics cards through software updates....

There is often a lot of overlap between games within the same genre, sometimes leading to new titles being described as “clones” of one game or another. However, in the case of a game like People Can Fly’s upcoming Outriders, this could be one of those rare occasions where the “clone” outpaces its predecessors, which could mean trouble for the Anthem overhaul. Elite Dangerous is a unique space-sim beloved by its long-time players. After much teasing over past couple of weeks, Blizzard has finally pulled back the curtain on the latest Overwatch hero - a lovable tank-like robot named Orisa. The third new character to be added into the game after Ana and Sombra, Orisa is classified as a tank character and her addition brings the hero roster up to 24. Described by Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan as the “central anchor of her team”, Orisa is a heavy-set tank hero that functions both as a frontline attacker and a solid defender....
Blizzard reveals that its new multiplayer shooter, Overwatch, had a hugely successful launch, as 7 million people played it within its first week on sale. Although Blizzard’s new IP Overwatch launched in May, up against stiff competition from DOOM and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, the colorful shooter still seemed to have everyone talking. Not only did critics massively praise the new multiplayer title, with reviews calling it “amazing” and “the new gold standard for multiplayer shooters” among other positive exclamations, but it also got a huge boost from Conan O’Brien’s Clueless Gamer series, when the late night host enthused about the game alongside two Game of Thrones stars....
An ad on Google spills more details about the soon-to-be-revealed Destiny expansion, Rise of Iron, confirming a new raid and story focused on the Lords of Iron. Just days after Rise of Iron was trademarked by Destiny developer Bungie, it appears more details have found their way onto Google, adding to the credibility of the art leak and subsequent information about Destiny’s fall expansion a few weeks ago. With Fortnite Season 6 being dubbed Primal and incorporating a wildlife theme, with weapon crafting and wild animals that can be tamed, it’s not too much of a stretch to assume that dinosaurs will be implemented in some form. In fact, there’s already evidence of this courtesy of a prominent Fortnite dataminer and that same dataminer may have unearthed further proof. Following the discovery of egg assets that are already in the game and believed to be dinosaur eggs by players, FortTory on Twitter shared strings they discovered that specifically reference raptors....
