Since Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s October release, Treyarch has been busy patching weapon rebalances, improved audio, and a post-launch map into their new multiplayer shooter. Now, industrious fans are finding more for players to be excited about, as two new map variants have been discovered buried in the latest update’s files. Titled “Firing Range Night” and “Seaside Sunset,” these variants are time-shifted renditions of the “Firing Range” and “Seaside” maps currently available in Black Ops 4, offering players a new perspective on these familiar battlegrounds....

The next DLC character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate might be arriving sooner than anticipated, as a new trailer released by Nintendo is suggesting that the Hero from the Dragon Quest series will be available this month. It was revealed during Nintendo’s E3 2019 Direct that the Hero from Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age will be coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate over the summer as a DLC character....

The fine folks over at Fantasy Flight Games have a few new releases up their sleeves for their tabletop favorite Star Wars Legion, including a limited edition Luke Skywalker mini, Darth Maul set, and Anakin Skywalker mini. The new Luke Skywalker mini is from the time of The Empire Strikes Back, with Luke standing heroically on the wreckage of his T47 Snowspeeder. The detailed miniature features the iconic orange flight suit along with plenty of customizable options....

New World is also a class-less game, which means you’re not forced into choosing a certain way to play. Your power instead scales with weapon masteries. The New York Game Awards is back for its 10th year and has announced its 2021 nominees. Former President of Nintendo of America Reggie Fils-Aimé will be co-hosting the show alongside the New York Videogame Critics Circle’s founder Harold Goldberg. The event will be streamed for free on Twitch and YouTube on January 26 at 8pm ET and will include some musical performances. It will be run by the NYVGCC, a group that helps the underprivileged in the New York area who want to learn more about games and technology....

Richard Tyler Blevins, or “Ninja” rose to fame as one of the key Fortnite streamers on the Twitch platform. This eventually secured him as the number one most followed streamer on Twitch. With almost 17 million followers, Ninja is miles ahead of competitors like Pokimane and Sykkuno. Now, after repeatedly being stream sniped, Ninja ranted that he was done. For those unaware, stream snipping is a tactic where snipers stalk their victims via livestream to gain an unfair advantage....

Another huge Nintendo leak has happened, this time involving a console that is still on the market, as the OS source code for the Nintendo 3DS has made its way online. It is joined by the source code for Pokémon Diamond & Pearl. There have been a number of Nintendo-related leaks over the past few years, but there have been some notable ones that have made their way online recently. It wasn’t that long ago that the OS source codes for the Nintendo Wii made their way online, as well as some debug builds of the Nintendo 3DS Pokémon games....

Fans have been waiting reverently since Fire Emblem: Three Houses was announced. However, with its recent release comes controversy concerning one of its voice actors. Chris Niosi voices Byleth, the male protagonist of the game, and this has been a source of anger amongst fans. Niosi has been accused of abuse and other forms of ill-treatment. These accusations came from past girlfriends, former friends, and colleagues. They’ve referenced his anger management problems and his manipulative attitude....

The Expansion Pack service (which officially launched last night) has been divisive from the start. While just about everyone assumed that Nintendo would eventually launch a new “tier” for their online service that included access to additional retro titles, fans immediately wondered whether Nintendo would find a way to justify the Expansion Pack’s price ($50 a year compared to the base Switch Online service’s $20 a year subscription fee). Well, initial impressions of the service’s features and functionality suggest that fans may have had good reason to worry about not just the price increase but what they are getting for their money....

After besting Phantom Ganon in the mansion ruins of the Forest Temple, Link is drawn to Death Mountain once again to save the Gorons and restore peace to the region. This is the fifth temple featured in Ocarina of Time, filled with fire, lava, Gorons to free, and even more fire. While this dungeon may seem a bit bland at first when looking at the same-y walls, simpler puzzles, and an overabundance of the color red, there are quite a few secrets to uncover hidden within this treacherous, volcanic sanctuary....

Square Enix has announced that Outriders has officially surpassed 3.5 million unique players around the world just one month after release. Jon Brooke, Co-Head of Studio at Square Enix External Studios, confirmed the number of unique players with an average playtime of over 30 hours, “and the amazing team at People Can Fly are so excited with this initial success.” Brooke went on to thank players for “the community’s support and feedback – we continue to listen carefully and want to assure everyone that we are committed to improving and enhancing the experience in the coming weeks and months....

The one-year anniversary for Pathfinder’s second edition (2e) is coming up on August 1st, and almost coinciding with that is the launch of a new Advanced Player’s Guide supplement, which officially releases later this week on July 30th. Amongst five new ancestries and five new heritages for any ancestry is the addition of playable catfolk. These feline-humanoids featured as add-ons outside the game’s basic rules in the past, but with this new supplement they will be brought in line with the official 2e ruleset....

The successor to one of the best online first person shooters in years, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is sure to garner a large fan base when it makes its release in 2012. Once Counter-Strike: Source released, fans of the franchise were treated to a graphical overhaul of the game’s assets, along with some game design changes. Developer Valve hasn’t forgotten about the mod-turned-juggernaut’s place in many a gamer’s heart, and is working on bringing the game back on a much larger scale....

The highly anticipated release of Monster Hunter World is quickly approaching, but fans expecting to play on PC rather than console may be waiting for some time yet. This morning Monster Hunter World producer Ryozo Tsujimoto announced that the PC version of the action game is now tentatively scheduled to release this autumn. The PC version of Monster Hunter World had no prior confirmed release window. While the PC version of Monster Hunter World has been confirmed to be a delayed release for some time now, few expected such a long delay....

The middle of the month has arrived, meaning the second wave of the August’s Games with Gold lineup is here. The two new games – Override: Mech City Brawl and Red Faction 2 – are now available to Xbox Live Gold members for free on the Microsoft Store. Override: Mech City Brawl will be available to Xbox One players for free from August 16 to September 15. In the multiplayer 3D brawler game, which was released for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC in 2018, players pilot sky-scraper sized bots in arenas modeled after real-life cities....

After months of anticipation, four new DLC kombatants were introduced to Mortal Kombat X this week — and you can see all their disgusting new fatalities right here. This week, NetherRealm Studios presented Mortal Kombat X players with the game’s second set of DLC kombatants, almost a year after its initial launch. Now, it’s a question of which characters will prove to be the most effective, as they’re put through their paces by the passionate fighting game community....

Technically, Nancy Drew’s first season came to an early end due to the coronavirus pandemic but watching the Season 2 premiere, it’s hard to tell that the story of the monstrous Aglaeca wasn’t always meant to carry over into the new season....

NEO: The World Ends With You has teased the fate of Shiki, one of the first game’s main characters. As spotted by IGN, a recent round of press releases for NEO makes reference to Mr Mew, the black cat that Shiki made and is seen carrying around throughout the first game. Mr Mew has been seen being carried by Tsugumi in NEO, although it wasn’t known why until now. According to the press release, “the stuffed animal she carries resembles the mascot of Gatto Nero, a new brand that’s all the rage in Shibuya—but her plush pal apparently predates the establishment of said brand”....
