Nowadays, the video game marketplace is filled with all sorts of remasters and remakes that aim to bring retro experiences to modern audiences with various improvements, like significant graphical upgrades. But what if we go the opposite route, and recreate modern games with technology from decades ago? That’s the question asked by YouTube channel 98DEMAKE, which dedicates itself to “demaking” video games with graphics that call back to the era of the PS1 and the Nintendo 64....

There are many impressive custom computer builds out there that are examples of technical knowledge and creativity. One of these custom PC builds was recently revealed by its owner Chellyries on her Twitter and Youtube channel. The system was created by custom PC modder and builder Ryu Tech Modz, a modder based out of the Philippines. Perhaps this isn’t the ideal way to open an article about celebrating the Avatar films, but I feel like I must confess: I don’t love Avatar. I certainly do like both James Cameron‘s Avatar and its just-released sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water. I saw both in theaters, immensely enjoyed the experience each time, and then went about my life, having quickly forgotten most of what I just saw. This is all to say, Avatar movies are great but I can’t see myself buying a Na’vi lunchbox anytime soon....

Earlier today, FDG Entertainment and Game Atelier, the developers of Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom, posted a tweet claiming that they would be collaborating on a new DuckTales project called DuckTales QuackShot. The announcement came with several screens showing off the game. DuckTales QuackShot would be a platformer that allowed players to take control of Donald, Huey, Dewy, Luie, and possibly even Uncle Scrouge. It was a nice tease that left fans interested in future updates, but what came next only served to be hopelessly disheartening....

A Japanese only livestream has also been announced for May 25th, at 4PM PDT. This stream is being hosted by Yuko Kawanishi and Liberation Dx2 producer Tanabe, who will be giving a more detailed look at the event and its characters. When Facebook revealed the new hand tracking feature on the Quest during Oculus Connect 6 in 2019, it looked like magic. Within just a couple of months, the feature was added to existing Quest headsets, and in 2020, hand tracking came as a standard feature on the Quest 2. Over a year later, the feature is really only used for simple menu navigation and one or two games. There is so much untapped potential in virtual hand tracking, it would be such a shame if developers never find a way to take advantage of it....

Yesterday’s PC Gaming Show was a celebration of the old and the new for the PC platform. For a few of the games on the show, it was clearly going for a mix of both.
