Blizzard is working hard to get Overwatch 2 ready for release, but that doesn’t mean the first game is being left to the wayside. Just announced, the Winter Wonderland event is set to roll out on December 15 right through to January 5.

This celebration of the holidays has been a long-standing tradition since Overwatch’s first year of release and 2020 is no different. The typical formula is brand new skins, a potential co-op or PvP mode, and fittingly festive map reskins.

While there’s no word on what content will be in store when Winter Wonderland 2020 rolls around the corner this Tuesday, Mei’s robot, seen in the teaser perched over the egg, appears to have a new penguin-themed look.

Are players in store for a brand new legendary Mei skin? Maybe, maybe not, but using her in the promo through her robot who is sporting a new look seems to hint that something is coming her way at the least. She may already have a Winter Wonderland skin, but if Roadhog can get two, why not our favorite abominable snowwoman?

Blizzard has yet to announce specifically what new content is on offer but, as per any event, all the previous years’ unlockables are available to purchase for credits or through the loot boxes - that means that there are 35 winter-themed skins, 9 emotes, and 5 intros up for grabs.

You might not see the point with Overwatch 2 so close to release, but players will keep their skins, icons, sprays, and emotes as progression carries over. So why not boot up Overwatch, grab a blanket, get a hot cup of cocoa and sit on the couch with the fire roaring to let out all your 2020 rage in one fell swoop on some unsuspecting Genji mains?
