Widowmaker’s one of the most beloved characters in Overwatch, and a lot of that is due to her overt sexuality. From her voice lines to her movement to her very character design, Widowmaker’s very much made with that part of the internet in mind.
But now, I’m left asking a few questions about myself with a recent mod that gives her giant, spindly spider legs. Yes, intrepid modder Naeri saw fit to turn the beloved character into a cast member of Monster Musume.
Excuse me. I need a second to process this.
Okay, I’m back. This mod is wild. In the linked video, Widowmaker is shown climbing up the sides of buildings and leaping through the night sky like some kind of demonic entity. She also towers above every other character model in the game, so not only is she a human-spider hybrid, she’s a massive human-spider hybrid. Yikes.
Or is it? The more I look at it, the more I think it’s pretty great. Imagine getting a hug, but instead of a hug, it’s Widowmaker’s long legs coiling around you into a warm, spindly, and kind of fuzzy embrace. A veritable limb blanket, if you will. Honestly, that sounds pretty great, and it’s a shame that Blizzard’s so boring that they think human women are actually attractive.
So, Jeff Kaplan, give us what we want. We don’t want Overwatch 2, or an esports scene that isn’t hemorrhaging players - we’re past that now. Blizzard needs to give us our giant spider mommy, and they need to do it now.
