Over time, heroes in Overwatch receive reworks that fundamentally change the way they function in-game, as seen with heroes such as Torbjorn who had a complete change to his ultimate ability and skills. Sometimes, players like to suggest their own reworks, including one of the original and beloved tanks, Reinhardt.

An Overwatch player has released footage of a suggested rework that could give the character the ability to better handle threats by himself. Luckily, these changes aren’t an April fool’s joke and seem to be promoting an honest change to Reinhardt. Reinhardt is a staple pick that gives protection when making pushes into objectives, and the suggested reworks make him even better at handling things himself in fights. Though the player downplays the rework, it’s actually pretty solid.

The first change that came to mind is Reinhardt’s Firestrike. The player in the clip makes it so the move deals 60 burn damage over time, as well as knocking enemies back if they are within three meters of Reinhardt. This can potentially give Reinhardt some breathing space if he needs to quickly drop his shield to relocate or step back to get some healing.

Next on the list of reworks is the way that his charge functions. The charge is able to be canceled, which is an amazing start already. Plus, if Reinhardt is above 400 HP, the charge will give a speed boost of ten percent. The speed boost would be great for disengaging from fights if things get too heated while waiting for support from other teammates.

Reinhardt is pretty balanced, but these changes would give him a bit more freedom to get out of sticky situations. Perhaps in the future– or even Overwatch 2 –the developers will take a look at Reinhardt and see what they can do to make him better.

With the release of new heroes in Overwatch, there are usually updates and fixes to other heroes, so the idea of seeing changes to Reinhardt in the future isn’t crazy. Hopefully, if Reinhardt is changed, the developers take some ideas from this rework and mess around with them.

Overwatch is available for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
