People Can Fly’s Outriders will be rolling out on Stadia in 2021. The PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC versions launch this Holiday.

Sebastian Wojchiechowski, the Studio Head at People Can Fly, said that a core concept of this co-op RPG shooter is allowing players to experience the game their way with “creativity and flexibility.” He then stated that the Stadia platform allows you to “play your way, anywhere.” In 2021, at least a fraction of gamers will be streaming Outriders on a phone, Chromecast, or PC.

Outriders is a sci-fi shooter set in a dangerous world called Enoch. Humanity was promised that Enoch would be a paradise, but the Anomoly ravaged the world that was supposed to a restart for the game’s cast of characters. After their first conflict with Enoch’s dangerous creatures, the group of colonizers went back to cryosleep. Little did they know that spending 30 years on the world would cause them to gain unique abilities. Now, it’s a journey of survival.

Square Enix and People Can Fly have promised a flexible skill and upgrades system that lets you play the way you want to. Do you want to play as a character that likes to deal damage from far away? It’s got that. If you want to fight up close and personal, that’s available too. There is also a loot-based element of the game. The more difficult the mission is, the better loot you will get, and as you finish missions, you will get higher world tiers. Higher world tiers equal better loot.

While a comparison to the Destiny series is inevitable, Outriders has not been developed as a live service game and will be a complete product from day 1. It will also have no microtransactions. A comparison could be made to the original Borderlands, which had tons of replayability, no microtransactions, and felt like a full product.

People Can Fly has plenty of experience in the shooting genre, having previously developed the high-intensity shooters Painkiller and Bulletstorm. The Polish studio also collaborated with Epic Games on Fortnite and the Gears of War series.
