Outriders handles legendary gear differently than most looter shooters. Instead of locking perks to certain weapons, Outriders lets you swap the mods on legendaries freely on other gear, even non-legendary items.
As a result, the mods tied to legendaries are what players are chasing. Some of these mods are incredibly strong, enabling new playstyles or granting a massive damage bonus. Most of these powerful mods can be used on any class, although there are a few class-specific mods that are so strong they need to be mentioned. Let’s go ten powerful legendary armor mods you can find in Outriders. This list is in no particular order.
10 Stare Into The Barrel
- Mod Description:
- Boosts your Firepower by 10,039 for each enemy in Close Range. Stacks up to 5 times.
- Found On:
- Tanner’s Hat
If you’re a Trickster main that loves shotguns, this mod was made just for you. Stare Into the Barrel grants a massive Firepower boost for every enemy near you, granting over 50,000 Firepower when five enemies are nearby. Since Outriders encourages aggressive play with its healing system, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t rush towards your enemy and kill them in close quarters.
9 Life of the Party
- Mod Description:
- Incoming damage is reduced by 3% for each enemy in Close Range. Stacks up to 8 times.
- Found On:
- Fighters’ Mask
Yet another close-range favorite, Life of the Party grants a small amount of damage resistance for every enemy nearby, capping at 24% damage resistance when eight enemies are nearby.
A 24% damage resistance buff might sound insignificant, but this stacks with other forms of damage mitigation. Trickster Shields, Devastator’s Golem, and high armor all synergize exceptionally well with this perk. So long as you keep healing, it’s hard to die with that much damage mitigation.
8 Anomaly Echo
- Mod Description:
- Grants 3,276 Firepower and 11,484 Anomaly Power bonus on skill activation for 15 seconds.
- Found On:
- Anomaly’s Visage
Gaining a flat source of Firepower and Anomaly Power for using a skill is incredible. Considering that this mod lasts for 15 seconds, most builds in Outriders will have this buff active all the time. Sadly, Anomaly Echo doesn’t stack on itself if you cast multiple abilities quickly, but a flat boost to your Firepower and Anomaly Power for using a skill is worth the mod slot if you have room.
7 Captain Hunter
- Mod Description:
- Increases your damage against Elites by 25%.
- Found On:
- Gauntlets of the Cannonball
Elites are much tankier than any fodder enemy you’ll stumble across, which is why Captain Hunter is such a great mod. Gaining a permanent, non-conditional 25% damage increase against Elites is a massive buff for virtually every build in Outriders. The faster you kill Elites, the faster you can complete Expeditions to farm better gear.
6 Power Assimilation
- Mod Description:
- Boosts your Anomaly Power by 11,061 for each Elite present on the battlefield.
- Found On:
- Cranium of a Lost Creature
Scaling Anomaly Power is tougher than scaling raw Firepower, as players need to worry about obtaining both flat sources of Anomaly Power and percentage increases. Fortunately, Power Assimilation is so good that it makes scaling your Anomaly Power much easier.
Every Elite currently alive will grant 11,061 Anomaly Power until they die. Most Expeditions have multiple Elites active at any given moment, giving you tens of thousands of Anomaly Power for free. Nearly every Anomaly build should be using Power Assimilation if they have room to spare.
5 Sharp Eye
- Mod Description:
- Killing enemies while aiming down sights grants you 16,089 Firepower for 20 seconds. Stacks up to 3 times.
- Found On:
- Sergio’s Beret
What could be better than using Bloodlust in a Firepower build? Using Bloodlust and Sharp Eye together. Yes, Sharp Eyes stacks with the Bloodlust perk, giving you over 32,000 Firepower after a single kill. If you can maintain three stacks of both perks, which isn’t hard to do, you’ll gain close to 100,000 Firepower. The damage bonus this grants is so substantial that it’s downright mandatory for all endgame Firepower builds. If you’re struggling to kill Elites and bosses, this mod will single-handedly fix that.
4 Palisade (Devastator)
- Mod Description:
- Impale can strike 2 additional targets.
- Found On:
- Seismic Commander’s Armor
Taking not one but three enemies out of commission with Impale is nothing short of game-changing. You get three different sources of Impale’s Health regeneration and armor buff, making you an unstoppable juggernaut if you’re near the Impale source. Use this during difficult Expeditions to give yourself a breather. Your team will thank you for it.
3 Detonator (Pyromancer)
- Mod Description:
- Decrease Overheat’s cooldown by 50%.
- Found On:
- Armor of the Acari
Overheat is a devastating skill with the right build, although its power is kept in check with a rather long 22-second cooldown. You can mitigate this negative significantly with the Detonator mod, haling the cooldown of Detonator to 11 seconds. Pairing this with Cooldown Reduction attributes, you can cast Detonator once every five seconds for a hilarious amount of damage.
2 Twins (Technomancer)
- Mod Description:
- Two Cryo Turrets can be placed before triggering the cooldown.
- Found On:
- Crown of the Borealis Monarch
Having a second Cryo Turret active can change the dynamic of a fight at higher Challenge Tiers. Two sources of Freeze is enough to make deadly encounters—such as the final fight in the Boom Town Expedition—much safer. If you play solo and are pushing difficult Challenge Tiers, this mod is a blessing.
1 Instant Reload (Trickster)
- Mod Description:
- Teleporting with Hunt the Prey instantly replenishes the magazine in your current weapon.
- Found On:
- Ugake Otarah’s Cowl
Twisted Rounds just became much more powerful with the Instant Reload mod. If the great mobility of Hunt the Prey wasn’t enough, now it can fully reload your weapon to maintain Twisted Rounds. It makes for a great means of refreshing your magazine in the middle of an Elite fight where there are no enemies nearby to kill. If you pair this with the Ugake Otarah set or Perpetuum Mobile, you never have to reload.
