Season Four of Outlander continues the story of time-traveling 20th century doctor Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) and her 18th century Highlander husband Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), as they try to make a home for themselves in colonial America. As Claire and Jamie build their lives together in the rough and dangerous back country of North Carolina, they must negotiate a tenuous loyalty to the current British ruling class, despite Claire’s knowledge of the American Revolution to come. Along the way, the Frasers cross paths with notorious pirate and smuggler Stephen Bonnet (Ed Speleers) in a fateful meeting that will come back to haunt the Fraser family. Meanwhile in the 20th century, things are complicated between Brianna Randall (Sophie Skelton), Claire and Jamie’s daughter, and Roger Wakefield (Richard Rankin), the historian who helped Claire search for Jamie in the past. But when Roger and Brianna search for proof that Brianna’s parents reunited in the 18th century, a shocking discovery makes both of them consider following in Claire’s footsteps.

Outlander Season 4 Cast
Outlander Season 4 introduced many new faces to its cast…
DRUMS OF AUTUMN is the fourth book in the OUTLANDER series, following VOYAGER. Here Claire and Jamie, with Jamie’s nephew Young Ian, seek to find a place for themselves in the colony of North Carolina, treading a dangerous line between Governor Tryon’s patronage and Claire’s knowledge of the brewing revolution in America, between the help of Jamie’s Aunt Jocasta, last of his MacKenzie kin (“MacKenzies are charming as larks in the field–but sly as foxes with it.”) and the unwanted obligations of her slave-run plantation. As they find mountain land and begin to build their first cabin, their newfound life is bittersweet, with the thought Brianna–the daughter Claire has left behind, the daughter Jamie will never see–always near.
Billy Boyd will be playing Gerald Forbes, a wealthy lawyer in Cross Creek.
Caitlin O’Ryan will be playing Lizzie Wemyss, a Scottish woman who goes on a big adventure with Brianna Fraser.
Natalie Simpson will be playing Phaedre, the personal maid and seamstress for Jocasta and a trusted member of the River Run household.
Tim Downie will be playing Governor William Tryon, a former British officer who used his family connections to land the position of governor.
Simona Brown played Gayle, Brianna’s best friend and college roommate.
In addition to the above new cast members, Maria Doyle Kennedy (Orphan Black) was been cast as Jocasta, Jamie’s strong-willed aunt.
Ed Speleers (Downton Abbey) came on in the role of Irishman Stephen Bonnet, a pirate and smuggler.

Scottish actor Craig McGinlay (King Arthur: Legend of the Sword) was cast as plantation owner Andrew MacNeill, while Ainsley Jordan has been cast as Claire’s rival Judith Wylie.
