There’s a lot that stands in your way before you reach the fourth boss in Othercide, and the boss itself certainly isn’t child’s play. As with the previous bosses, the name of this creature hides just how deadly it really is. This is the last hurdle the game has to throw at you before you make it to the final era, and if you somehow didn’t realize it before, the Child will make it clear Othercide isn’t going to let you win without a fight. You’ll be glad to know these tips before your daughters become the Child’s playthings.
The Child Stats And Abilities
As always, let’s break down what this boss is packing so you won’t be caught off guard.
You’ll be glad to have four daughters in this fight because the Child is tanked up with 50,000 HP. In phase one he’s got two instant attacks, Shriek and Misery. Shriek is a basic melee attack for 1,200, while Misery covers range by dealing 500 damage to whichever of your daughters is furthest away, plus temporarily reduces their movement range.
Rays of Agony is the Child’s charged skill here, dealing 550 damage in eight directions around the boss.
The second phase comes quick, triggering once the boss is at 75% HP. Aside from getting two new abilities, his Shriek and Misery skills will become improved “Dreadful” versions of those skills. Now these skills will also deal damage on the spaces directly around the Child in addition to their usual ranges.
Torrent of Agony and Rain of Agony are the new charged skills to look out for. Torrent is a massive AOE cone stretches downward from the boss, and Rain will hit random tiles across the map.
Get the boss to 50% and you’ll make it to phase three and the Child’s final skill. Cross of Agony, again a charged skill, is another massive AOE that can hit for up to 1,000 damage. Thankfully it takes a while to charge, so you do have a chance to move your squad into the few safe spaces.
The Child Tips
There are a few ways you can make this fight much easier for yourself, especially if you can manage your action points well. With so many charged abilities that his massive areas, always being able to reposition is going to be key. Unlike the Maid fight, you won’t have to keep any reaction skills in mind. Any attack this boss can do, you’ll see coming and can avoid if you’re ready. For that reason alone you should avoid causing any units to go into a burst state if possible.
If you have skills that can cause knock back, hitting the Child toward the bottom of the area while he’s getting ready to cast Torrent of Agony can almost negate the attack since it only targets spaces facing that one direction. However, don’t use any skills that knock the boss around when he’s casting Rain of Agony or Cross of agony. It can rearrange the spaces going to be hit and cause one of your daughters to get hit on accident.
Keep your Shieldbearer close enough to hit the boss with Slam as much as you can to delay him, and have your Soulsinger cover her with Intercepting Round to keep anyone close from getting hit as much as possible.
Aside from that, get you DPS in and hitting as hard as you can, moving when you need to, and this boss should go down no problem.
Rewards
You know already you’re getting one Remembrance that will skip an era. The other, The Twisted Mask, will make new daughters all start at level ten.
