By the time you reach the final day of the fifth era in Othercide, you might feel confident in knowing all the tricks the game will throw at you. You’ve beaten all the bosses, mastered all the classes, and clawed your way through countless missions across dozens of runs to finally make it to the final boss of the game. Despite all that, you’re still in for a terrible surprise. More than any previous boss, you’re going to need a guide to lead you through this final gauntlet if you want to finally claim victory over this unforgiving game.

The Nucleus may seem like a pushover at first, but by this point we shouldn’t have to tell you that things won’t be as easy as they might initially appear. We mentioned that there’s a a twist coming for you in this fight, but let’s cross that bridge when we come to it.

The Nucleus Stats And Abilities

For the first time you’re allowed five daughters to go up against the boss, which might seem like overkill when the Nucleus only has 35,000 HP and three abilities in the first phase.

All of this boss’s skills are instant here, starting with Instinct. This will deal 250 damage to any of your daughters near the Nucleus and then teleport itself to a random location on the map. Reanimation will summon one or more Corrupted Daughters on each turn, and Reshaping transforms a Corrupted Daughter into a Hopebreaker.

The Nucleus will initiate a phase transition at 60% health and get just one new move. Infection is a charged attack that hits in a cross pattern stretching outward from the boss. Each beam it fires out deals 750 damage, but will also create another four beams spreading out from any target it hits, including enemy units.

The Nucleus Tips

At the beginning of the fight there will already be five Corrupted Daughters on the map to deal with. At this point in the game you shouldn’t have very much trouble taking them out while you wait for the Nucleus itself to appear. Once it does, send your Shieldbearer in as soon as possible to hit it with delay abilities to keep it from teleporting too much.

Aside from that, have a Blademaster and Scythedancer just continuously pile damage on the boss while your Soulsinger clean up any Corrupted Daughters it manages to spawn. You should reach phase two with little to no trouble.

The second phase isn’t all that difficult either. The only thing to keep an eye out for now is Infection. Because the attack will trigger additional beams no matter what unit it hits, you just have to make sure you don’t position your daughters where they will chain damage between them. Also remember that this move can hit and chain off of enemy mobs too, so don’t stand in the way of them either if they’re going to be hit.

Once you beat the Nucleus, the real final boss appears.

The Suffering Stats And Abilities

Yes, this final boss fight is actually two bosses in one. While the Nucleus was a bit of a pushover, the Suffering is here to bring the pain. Hopefully your team didn’t take much damage against the Nucleus because you’ll need every bit of HP to make it through this final ordeal.

Starting with double the HP of the Nucleus, the Suffering has a massive 70,000 HP and five abilities. While it won’t get any new abilities after the phase transition, it doesn’t really need any because of how killer the ones it starts with are.

Three abilities are instant, Ordeal, Distress, and Hardship. Ordeal has the Suffering swap positions with whichever of your daughters is furthest away and then explodes for a maximum 600 damage in an AOE. Distress will hit all your daughters with a 20 initiative delay, and Hardship deals 1,000 damage in a cross pattern that emanates from each of your daughters.

Pain and Love are the boss’s reaction skills this time. Pain restores 150 HP to the Suffering for each attack it takes, and Love will interrupt any melee attack and push the attacker back.

The Suffering Tips

This is going to be a long fight, so resist the urge to make any risky plays unless you’re sure its going to end the fight. This is the last fight, so losing a daughter here won’t really matter if you win, but it would be safer to just stay vigilant until the end.

Right off the bat, make sure your units are not bunched up for this battle. Ordeal will likely swap the boss with your Soulsinger, and if any other units are nearby then they’ll take a nasty hit. Keeping your daughters at a distance will be a little annoying when the Suffering does teleport and you have to move them back in, but this entire fight is all about survival.

Pain is going to be the next issue to keep in mind. Because the Suffering will automatically heal for 150 HP every time you hit it, don’t bother attacking with weaker units. It would be better to have your Soulsingers focus on just providing buffs or protecting your DPS units with interrupt abilities so they can maximize damage.

Your Shieldbearer is going to play a critical role in this fight thanks to a weird synergy she gets with the boss’s Pain ability. If you use Blacksmiths’s Grace, boosting her armor and initiative each time she’s attacked, it will activate whenever the Suffering’s Pain skill is triggered too. Essentially, your Shieldbearer will be constantly moved up in the timeline every time another unit hits the boss and activates Pain, allowing you to pummel the boss with Slam to delay it from doing anything else. This isn’t quite a stun lock, but can absolutely turn the tides on an otherwise losing fight.

Rewards

The last Remembrance you’ll get from defeating a boss is thankfully the best one in in the game, the Flower of Paradise. With this Remembrance activated all daughters will automatically start at the level cap of 15. You’re also given the option here to go right into a new recollection, but all your current daughters will still be sent to the graveyard and need to be resurrected if you want to take them out for another run.
