With only four primary classes in Othercide, you’re going to want to make sure you’re making the most out of each and every one you get. Sure, you will lose daughters here and there no matter what, but knowing how to build your classes to be the best and most effective against the Gothic horrors and monsters the game will throw at you will at least give them a chance at survival. Each class is unique in terms of what roles they are best suited for, which skills should be invested in, and what memories create the best synergies.

First up is the Blademaster, the traditional melee and DPS class in Othercide. This class will be your best source of close range damage for most of the game thanks to her having the highest base damage stat of any class. Her range is short, and second ability called Imbued Blade isn’t terribly useful unless enemies are set up just right, but is a strong pick to have on any mission.

Best Skill Choices

Every class gets to pick one of two skill options at level one, five, ten, and 15. Each has their own pros and cons, but we make our recommendation based on what is the most useful for most situations, as well as having the highest synergies with other classes.

At level one you get the choice between Lightning Strike and Immovable Stance. We recommend Lighting Strike even though it does a little less damage because of how much more versatile it is. Not only can you use it to close gaps and reposition easier, but doesn’t depend on an enemy triggering it like Immovable Stance, which might end up being wasted.

For level five we pick Accepting Stance since Lighting Strike already fills a similar role to Sidestep. Accepting Strike is a fantastic skill to deal heavy damage to bosses if you get in close and are given buffs from other classes.

When you get to level ten, Menacing Stance is better in basically every way. It does more damage than Ghost Strike, but also is made to synergize with any of your other unit’s damage dealing skills.

If you’ve been following our advice thus far, then at level 15 you should take Blade Tornado over a third stance skill in Vengeful Stance. Blade Tornado is a delayed attack, so careful planning is needed to fully take advantage of it, but allows you to attack in two chosen areas. The first will always be around the Blademaster’s current location, but the second you pick is where she will teleport to. This makes this a great move to deal with a large amount of enemies, over six if they’re in the right places, while repositioning your unit at the same time.

Best Memories

With a character so focused on high damage skills, choosing memories that add a percentage bonus to damage can really make your Blademaster’s DPS go out of control. Her skills alone do between 600 and 1,600 depending on which one you’re using, so adding a flat percentage on top of that really makes the Blademaster true to her name.

The memories you should be on the lookout for are Drill for +20% damage, Sever for +25%, Collapse for +30%, and Mercy for +60%. Odds are you won’t come across the higher percentage memories until later in the game, but just keep upgrading them as you go to keep that damage scaling higher and higher.
