After an Oscars ceremony like the one we just saw Sunday night, complete with the slap heard around the world, the winners seem almost like an afterthought. But this was a history-making Academy Awards, and not just because of the instant viral moment made by Will Smith and Chris Rock. Indeed, CODA did what seemed unlikely even two weeks ago, and rallied public support that carried it all the way from being a “small” release on Apple TV+ last summer to the Best Picture winner.

Indeed, CODA is the first streaming film to win Best Picture, breaking through a ceiling that Netflix has continually struggled with year after year, including this year when the evening’s seeming frontrunner, The Power of the Dog, nearly went home empty-handed save for a major Oscar win for Jane Campion as Best Director. The tides were clearly turning, too, after CODA unexpectedly beat Campion and Power of the Dog in the Best Adapted Screenplay category.

So yes, an Oscars like no other! Winners are below.
