The worst kept secret in remastered games won’t be coming as soon as we hoped. The Mass Effect Trilogy will reportedly be coming in early 2021 rather than this October. According to VentureBeat, the delay is thanks to visual and performance issues with the original Mass Effect.
VentureBeat reporter Jeff Grubb says that the performance and graphical problems Mass Effect 1 are having can be fixed, but it’s going to take some time: “The people working on the game understand the issues, and they want to do right by the franchise’s fans.”
Last month, it was speculated that the game would be getting delayed, now we have an unofficial reason why. Jeff has also been informed that the multiplayer component in Mass Effect 3 will not be included as the cost and effort it would take to build and maintain online support simply wouldn’t be worth it for EA.
Disappointing collection and remasters, like the recent Super Mario 3D All-Stars, can really leave a black mark on an otherwise beloved franchise. It’s too bad the trilogy won’t be out before the holidays, but it’s a good thing that EA and Bioware are committed to making the game the experience that players deserve.
