The TG-1 may succeed in the tough stakes but, as per so many previous Olympus Tough cameras, it’s rather pedestrian by design and in use. The f/2.0-4.9 lens might sound great at the wide-angle setting, but no aperture or manual control seriously stunts its use. Performance isn’t great and image quality is nothing special. Despite our high expectations, this is pricey as a standalone camera; one for hardcore specialist use only.
