Two-time Major winner and 2015 Player of the Year Olof “olofmeister” Kajbjer has announced that he will be stepping back from competitive CS:GO. The 28-year-old’s decision was revealed on Twitter by his current organization, FaZe Clan.

Olof “olofmeister” Kajbjer rose up the Counter-Strike ranks after joining Fnatic in 2014. Shortly after his addition, Fnatic made the Grand Final of the ESL One Cologne 2014 Major. The team quickly became one of CS:GO’s best, winning StarSeries X and ESWC 2014 before placing 5-8th at the DreamHack Winter 2014 Major, thanks to the infamous Olof Boost.

Maintaining their good form, Fnatic went on to win the ESL One Katowice 2015 and the ESL One Cologne 2015 Majors, becoming the first team to win two Major tournaments in CS:GO history. After consecutive Major wins, Olofmeister was named as HLTV’s 2015 Player of the Year.

Fnatic continued to reach Major play-offs, though were unable to find another championship title. Olofmeister left the team for FaZe Clan in 2017. Under the new banner, Olofmeister won ESL One New York 2017 and the Eleague Premier before reaching the Eleague Boston Major’s Grand Final. Following Boston, FaZe were unable to regain the world number-one spot.

Olofmeister has now announced his decision to take a break from competitive play, citing increasing fatigue as a motivator. There is no official word on who will take his place, though rumors point towards 16-year-old Lithuanian player Aurimas “Bymas” Pipiras. Should he join the roster, Bymas could make his FaZe debut in DreamHack Masters Spring Europe.
