We’re not sure what role she will play in it’s revival, but Olivia Munn will once again be involved with G4.

Back in 2002, when the world had only seen one Xbox system so far, G4 was the end all be all in gaming news and entertainment. For over a decade, G4 provided content centered on the gaming community. They produced original shows like X-Play, Human Wrecking Balls, It’s Effin’ Science, Web Soup and Attack of the Show! After a few years of being the go-to network for nerds, a few bumpy mergers and a dwindling budget forced G4 to shut down in 2014. But now, G4 is announcing its return with the help of the incomparable Olivia Munn. Munn made her acting debut on the network as the video game vixen and co-host of Attack of the Show! and has since had a meteoric rise to fame. Munn’s acting credits include the HBO series Newsroom, X-Men: Apocalypse, and Magic Mike.

Munn is probably the biggest success that G4 has ever produced, so having her name involved in the revival seems natural, but it also carries a lot of clout. It’s not clear at this point what Munn’s exact role will be, but her deal has been reported to include both on and off screen endeavors. Only time will tell if Munn will be spending more time moving things along behind the scenes or if she’ll grace our screens with a cameo or two on a revival of the fan favorite Attack of the Show! but seeing her name attached to this project is big news.

G4 is riding the nostalgia wave when it comes to this relaunch as they will be going up against the dominating forces in gaming news and entertainment; YouTube, Twitch, and Video Game Entertainment and News Network (VENN). G4 is slated for its (hopefully) triumphant return sometime in 2021. The video game community has changed a lot since G4 shut down, back when their target demographic was young adult men, and with Munn working in some capacity off screen there’s hope that the programming will reflect this ever evolving community.
