The $16.99 book takes you on a journey as Kratos teaches his son his ABC’s of the nine realms. Like the game, Kratos is teaching his kid Atreus (BOY) how to live in the world around them, but this book will impart that wisdom from Kratos in an “irreverent and entertaining style.”
Despite the book’s art style, this is actually made for adults; it would be weird if there was a kids book for an M-rated game after all. Hopefully, its satirical humor will leave us in stitches!
Behind this Insight Editions published book is the author Andrea Robinson and artist Romina Tempest. Andrea Robinson is the writer, who has another work coming soon that takes on a prior darker franchise; it will be based on the film, Gremlins. Gremlins: Gizmo’s 12 Days of Christmas will release this October, which will be both whimsical and feature horror elements. Romina Tempest is behind the wonderful art of this book and has in the past worked as an Illustrator at GameSys.

God of War: B is for Boy is a cute premise with an even cuter art style, and that should work very well as an adaptation of God of War. Part of what made the 2018 game work so well was the connection between Kratos and Atreus. Kratos learned to become a single father, who cared for his son; he progressively became patient and trust in the BOY. Atreus grew alongside him and found out more about his father and the world around him. God of War showed us that the connection between father and son is so special, and it should be cherished.
A storybook revolving around that connection between the two and the vivid journey they took should be wonderful to read; just don’t do storytime with the kids for this one.
We still haven’t heard anything yet on the next God of War, but if the dramatic ending is anything to go by, Sony Santa Monica should have something special upon the horizon. Let’s hope it gets revealed soon for the PS5!
