The game hasn’t even come out yet, but someone is already hard at work remaking Halo Infinite in Dreams.

Media Molecule might be tired of remakes and memes, but that hasn’t stopped anyone from using their brilliant game-within-a-game maker to recreate their favorite games. You can already play Final Fantasy VII Remake, Rayman, Crash Bandicoot, and Fallout 4 in Dreams, although the Nintendo remakes have all been taken down because Nintendo couldn’t take a joke.

You can also experience The Room in Dreams, but why would you want to? Nobody should experience that movie. Nobody.

But this latest remake is taking the proverbial cake. Mostly because it’s not technically a remake as the game it’s based on hasn’t even come out yet. It’s really just a simultaneous development that’s going on at the same time as 343 Industries gets ready to publish their latest Halo installment.

Reddit user Disarmed showcased their latest project on the PS4 subreddit. Not exactly a place that should be filled with Halo fans, but whatever.

The video is a short 40-second clip Halo remade in Dreams. There’s not a lot to it, with just a splash screen, some music, and Master Chief walking through an idyllic forest with some pretty great lighting (arguably better than what was shown during the Xbox Games showcase), but there isn’t a whole lot of action. In fact, there’s no action–we don’t even get to see the player squeeze off a few rounds from their Battle Rifle.

This is really more of a proof of concept. You can’t play this demo in Dreams yet, and Disarmed said that they’re really just doing this for fun. “This is purely for fun, I’m actually really excited for Halo on the series X,” wrote Disarmed. “I’ve got love from both sides of the battlefield."

Halo Infinite is supposed to launch with the Xbox Series X later this holiday season. Halo Dreams might launch before then, but we wouldn’t hold our breath. It’s not like Microsoft is screaming down Disarmed’s neck to ensure that they hit a Christmas deadline.
