Oddworld Inhabits has announced that its 2014 remake Oddworld: New ‘N’ Tasty will be making its way to Switch in October 2020. A completely redone version of the 1997 PS1 original, it sort of misses the mark with regards to tone and atmosphere. It’s otherwise a decent time, but it would have been nice to see the original make its way over to Nintendo’s platform.
If none of that bothers you, you’ll be happy to know that New ‘N’ Tasty will be getting both a physical and digital release. The eShop version won’t come with any extra features, but a special limited edition bundle from publisher Microids will include a lenticular slipcover, a sticker sheet, and a keychain. It’s a subtle, restrained collector’s bundle that I’m happy to see exist.
Pre-orders for the physical edition are available starting today. Curiously, Nintendo doesn’t have an eShop listing for the new Switch port, but you can navigate over to the Wii U version to get an idea of how it will look. I honestly didn’t even know the game was on the ill-fated tablet console, but that’s cool.
There’s no exact word on pricing, but the physical version will likely run $40. That seems about where I’d put it, especially since the main game goes for $20 on digital storefronts.
