The inevitable fan-favorite map makes a colorful ’80s-style return.

After a bit of a rocky start, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has its first content update coming, with a sweet week-long double XP event to boot! Nuketown has appeared in every single Black Ops version of Call of Duty, so it’s a map that was expected to come at some point during the game’s lifespan. But it coming this early is a pleasant surprise.

The frantic and high kill-count nature of Nuketown, combined with the double XP event makes this a prime opportunity to get ahead on leveling weapons and making a sizeable dent in your camo grinds.

The map looks a bit more cluttered than usual, with debris, junk, tires, and the traditional mannequins scattered all around the map. In addition to this, the map has a very vibrant color pallette, thanks primarily to the heavy graffiti work on most of the buildings, fences, and vehicles, which really offsets it against the core brown and grey desert setting.

This vibrancy really makes the map pop and feel like a fresh new take on a map which is now a mainstay of the series. With that said, the visual clutter may take a few games to get used to, and you may occasionally be thrown off by some of the mannequin placements. Also, watch out for using the cars as cover, they will explode after taking enough damage, killing anyone in close proximity.

The patch also comes with numerous bug fixes and some much-needed stability updates for the zombies mode. Here’s a full list of the patch notes from Treyarch:

Multiplayer

  • Adjusted Hardpoint spawn logic to reduce average travel time to active Hardpoints. Adjusted enemy weighting for spawns in Crossroads Strike and Armada Strike. Addressed a UI error that could sometimes occur when loading into a match of Fireteam: Dirty Bomb on Ruka. Addressed an issue that would prevent Flak Jacket from properly protecting the player from explosive damage in Hardcore modes

Zombies

  • Addressed an issue where the player could earn Field Upgrade charge while their Ring of Fire was currently activated. Addressed an issue that sometimes caused zombies to use their ranged attack unexpectedly. Addressed a rare issue that could rarely cause the Megaton to be permanently invincible after splitting.
