North has temporarily added Kristoffer “kristou” Aamand to its CS:GO lineup as Markus “Kjaerbye” Kjærbye takes an extended break due to health issues. Kjaerbye, who has been with the team since early 2018, has reported feeling “abdominal pain, breathing problems, and chest cramps.”

Markus “Kjaerbye” Kjærbye first signed with North in February of 2018 after spending two years under the Astralis banner. Since linking up with the rival Danish squad, the rifler has won multiple DreamHack Open events and DreamHack Masters Stockholm. The 22-year-old stepped away from the team earlier this month due to persistent health issues. North fielded coach Jimmy “Jumpy” Berndtsson during ESL One: Road to Rio, incurring a 20% loss of Regional Major Ranking points despite making the play-offs.

Kjaerbye has now officially gone on an extended break from competitive play. In the organization’s announcement, Kjaerbye reveals he has been experiencing a myriad of problems that prevent him from playing at the highest level. While the rifler recovers, 18-year-old Kristoffer “kristou” Aamand will take his place on the North roster.

Kristou currently plays for Danish team AGF. Recent results for the squad include a second placing at Geeks Gone Wild #25 and a win at POWER Ligaen Sæson 13. Kristou will make his North debut later this month at Hellcase Cup 8 and DreamHack Masters Spring Europe. Kjaerbye’s plans for return are currently unknown.
