When No Man’s Sky does launch for Xbox One this summer, it will be interesting to see how people react to it. After all, the game’s initial launch on PC and PS4 was met with widespread criticism and disappointment, with many people accusing game director Sean Murray of misleading them about some of its features.

However, the launch of No Man’s Sky on Xbox One is Hello Games’ chance at a second first impression. Beyond just its Xbox One release, though, No Man’s Sky is also set to receive a sizable update called NEXT that is going to add more features to the game, with rumors pointing to virtual reality support as a possibility. If the NEXT update brings No Man’s Sky a little closer to the experience that was promised, it could help reverse the game’s misfortunes.

The NEXT update will be a part of the Xbox One version of No Man’s Sky at launch, so if the leaked June 29 release date is accurate, then those on other platforms should be able to expect it within the next couple of months.

No Man’s Sky is available now for PC and PS4, and will launch for Xbox One this summer.
