Team Ninja is the developer behind games such as Ninja Gaiden, Dead or Alive, and Hyrule Warriors. They’ve created another massive success, Nioh 2. A lot has changed since the first Nioh, which is why this guide is essential.
Many frustrated players are wondering why they keep dying. You might even be ready to give up because of Nioh 2’s severe difficulty. It’s never too late to fix your character since the game allows you to respec your skills and retrieve spent Amrita. This is Nioh 2: 10 reasons you keep dying.
10 Use The Yokai Burst Counter To Shift The Tides Of A Battle
The Burst Counter will make you impervious to enemy attacks. A perfectly timed Yokai Burst Counter will inflict massive damage to their health and Ki meter. If an enemy’s Ki meter runs out because of a Yokai Burst Counter, they will be downed and you can Triangle attack them for even more damage! Regardless of their Ki meter, it’s an effective way to turn the tides in a battle. We can’t stress enough how helpful it is to learn the Yokai Burst Counter.
9 Spend Your Prestige Points!
The game doesn’t do an excellent job of explaining prestige points, which is why you’ll need to discover it on your own. Prestige points are divided into two different categories: Agyo and Ungyo. Depending on the prestige points you spend, you can receive character enhancements such as Elixer effectiveness and increased Ki regeneration.
You earn prestige points by completing titles, which gives you reputation. Filling your reputation bar will provide you with a prestige point. In the “Titles” menu, you can view titles and track their progress.
8 Master The Ki Pulse
To become a battle master in Nioh 2, players are going to have to be experts in every facet of the game. Mastering the Ki Pulse is invaluable since it increases the number of times you can attack and block an opponent before being staggered. Ki is essentially the stamina bar if the game was Dark Souls.
The Ki Pulse is best used when a blue aura (blue sparkles) surrounds your player. Ki Pulses help you to purify Yokai Realm pools, which means more Ki for attacking opponents.
7 Drag Enemies Outside The Dark Realm
This simple but helpful trick allows you to fight Dark Realm enemies outside the darkness. Shoot them with an arrow or rifle and draw them outside of the realm. Inside the realm, your Ki recovers slowly, and Yokai realm pools are abundant. The sinister realm contains fierce enemies, which is why you’ll want to draw them outside of it. Keep in mind, if you distance yourself too far from the realm, enemies teleport back into the Dark Realm.
6 Use Your Yokai Shift Wisely
It makes logical sense to use the Yokai Shift transformation when you are facing the fiercest enemies in any given level. Yokai Shift is activated by pressing Triangle and Circle on the PlayStation 4 controller.
Activating the Yokai Shift replaces your Ki and health gauge with a Yokai Shift gauge. Depending on how long the level is, and if you attack every enemy, you’ll most likely have a few times to use the transformation. In conclusion, use your Yokai Shift wisely!
5 Focus Your Efforts On One Or Two Weapons
Nioh 2 is a unique game because of the layers of upgrades one can apply to their weapons. Each weapon, whether it is the Odachi or Switchglaive, can deal additional damage with upgrades. These upgrades include skills, primary stats, secondary stats, and armor set bonuses.
It makes logical sense to focus your efforts on one or two weapons. However, if you enjoy replaying old levels to work on other weapons, we encourage that as well. Most players should focus their stat upgrades on one primary and one secondary weapon.
4 Use Amulets And Talismans Against Bosses
Yatsu-no-Kami, the third story mission giant snake boss, is one of the most unpredictable and tedious bosses in the game. Since players are early in Nioh 2 during the third mission, they haven’t mastered their abilities and techniques.
During a boss fight, like the one with Yatsu-no-Kami, it is the ideal time to use Talismans and Amulets. Yatsu-no-Kami has a low lightning resistance, so you’ll want to use the Lightning Amulet. You shouldn’t, however, use a poison talisman since Yatsu-no-Kami has a high resistance to poison.
3 The Dojo Provides In-Game Rewards
Complete those tutorials to improve your skills! The Dojo is a tutorial section of the game that not only teaches you how to play but it also gives you valuable rewards. You can get hair locks among other things for completing Dojo missions, so it makes sense to complete them. Hair locks provide players with instant skill points, which they can use to spend on a skill tree. Don’t forget to complete the Dojo, but note that these are exclusively single-player missions.
2 Build A Specialized Character Rather Than Well-Rounded
Although having a well-rounded character isn’t necessarily a bad thing, you have a better chance of survival if you specialize your character. Although there is some skill involved during gameplay, having a specialized character build makes the game easier by a tenfold.
Rather than spread yourself out like peanut butter, focus your stats and skills in one area. You’ll see the difference over time, which means less dying and more progression. Also, it’s worth noting that you can respec your character by purchasing and using the Book of Reincarnation from the Blacksmith.
1 The Game Is Super Difficult
This may sound like a stark message, but the reality is that Nioh 2 is a super difficult game. Don’t be discouraged since there is a light at the end of the tunnel. The game is rewarding because of its toughness.
The best Nioh 2 players possess qualities like resilience. They endure through thick and thin. The recommended level for missions must be an attempt by developer Team Ninja to make the journey an arduous experience. To put it bluntly, the reason you might be dying is because the game is really challenging.
