It seems like the rumor of Nintendo holding Direct presentations this month was partially true. In a post on Twitter this morning, Nintendo of America announced that the next Indie World showcase will be taking place on March 17, 2020. Starting at 1 pm EST, the video will feature roughly 20 minutes of new announcements for the future of indies on the Switch.

As for what is in store, we don’t really have any idea. Nintendo loves to shadowdrop games during these streams, so there’s a chance some new titles will be available immediately after the Direct. We might also see some new crossover games like Cadence of Hyrule or something. It really is anyone’s guess as to what Nintendo has in store. Just don’t go in expecting any news about major titles from the company.

To catch the stream, you can either visit Nintendo’s website, head on over to YouTube or go to the company’s official Twitch page. There are plenty of ways to watch this and the afternoon timeslot is a nice gesture. With many people being stuck at home, though, any time could have done.

The last indie Direct was held in December 2019 and it had a ton of info. In addition to confirming the existence of titles such as Axiom Verge 2, we were given surprise releases for ports of The Talos Principle and Dauntless while also getting confirmation of a ton of other games. Nintendo really does know how to cram a ton of info into a short video.

This time around, we’re left with only speculation. Most of the indie games that are coming to Switch are stuff we already know about. Streets of Rage 4, Shovel Knight Dig, Cyber Shadow: these are games we’ve seen at various tradeshows and through trailers online. It seems unlikely that Nintendo would just repeat the same information. Release dates could be in order, however.

Whatever happens, it stands to reason that a traditional Direct will soon follow. That rumor from last week stated two would be coming in March and we still have a few weeks left. Here’s to hoping we learn more about what Nintendo has in store after Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
